I'd make a modal operator that is triggered on a timer event (addable through python as well), and then read out input from a pipe.

See the text editor script templates for the timer example.

Either use mesh objects or empty objects, and tag them with extra information (idprops or custom props). In your exporter you can then look for this extra info and export accordingly. See https://svn.blender.org/svnroot/bf-blender/trunk/blender/release/scripts/op/add_mesh_torus.py for an example how...

For UI code on the C side, look in source/blender/editors and on Python side in release/scripts/ui and so on.

Can you give more info on your OS (32bit, 64bit), what MSVC version you use and what Python version (version and 32bit or 64bit) you have installed?

Blender is used to create and show presentations like you would use Powerpoint. It's of course up to the user to create something outstanding :)

On the GUI scaling: this happens when you open old (pre Blender 2.5x) .blend files with the Loading UI option enabled. Disable that when loading (see left-hand sidebar in fileselector), and the problem is gone.

The new Blender 2.56a zip distribution includes all necessary runtime dlls, including the vcomp90.dll. You could get those and extract the needed file.

Nice, JesterKing. At least yours are crap-free. 8) bf-extensions seems to have lower activity on it—only one update on Thursday (UTC), two on Wednesday, none on Tuesday, while a whole bunch came through on Friday. Is that what you’ve been seeing? Nah, I meant I forgot to reinstate (apparently) the ...

Odd, Ohloh’s figure is 3 million lines. Where do they get the extra 1.4 million from? Both bf-extensions trunk and bf-blender trunk/ (top-level) are included in the stats. bf-blender trunk includes also lib/windows and lib/win64, which both have Python libraries in source included. bf-extensions na...

Someone will have to port the script from Blender 2.4x to Blender 2.5x, which means both a port from Python 2.6 to Python 3.1 and from old scripting API to the new one.
