blender takes the old school approach; sheet of paper on you desk the edges are x & y and therefore z is up and down. Mike Erwin (the guy who gave us SpaceNav support) thinks in terms of 'camera' and thats why the default action is the way it is. You, I, and many others think in terms of 'object'. He is awareof this, and it is being worked on. In the meantime... Rainer has patched this and it is in the main trunk....

Spacenavigator Working in 2.59

My only problem now is, how do I reverse the action on the device? Blender's behavior is as though you're manipulating the position of the viewer, whereas other applications I use behave as though you're manipulating the on screen object with the SpaceNavigator.
