Intersecting collision and cloth objects - exploding physics

Hi everyone, I am using Blender programmatically to serve as a physics engine. So the usual scenario involves importing an object into Blender, applying the "collision" physics property to it, importing another object, applying the "cloth" physics property to it and then advancing the current frame ...

I tested GUI vs command line on my netbook running Ubuntu and the results were as expected and consistent between both. I then downloaded a different build of Blender for Ubuntu server (where the physics was not occurring) and that has done the trick, it is finally working. I think it may have been ...

I should also point out that the two Windows trials (GUI and command line) produced results, but quite different ones, which is very strange to me.

Why would there be a difference in results within the same version on the same OS?

Seeing as I am running Ubuntu Server and interacting with the machine via SSH, that is not something I can test. I did however try running the script on my local Windows machine and it works both in GUI and command line/background modes. So this is telling me that there is an OS issue at hand, but I...

OK. Well I am not getting errors, so it's really strange why it's not working. I don't know if this will help, but I noticed that if I used pdb to step through the frame_set() loop, the first call to frame_set() lag for a second or two, while the rest of the calls happen instantaneously. That seems ...

Run animation using Python API

Hi guys, I am currently using Blender to try and act as a physics simulator which gets invoked from the command line via this command: blender scene.blend --background --python script.py My Blender file is customised to my needs and the script.py file does the following: 1) Imports various OBJ files...

Use Python modules without running Blender

Hi everyone, I wish to use the awesome power of Blender in a programmatic way, within my web application. I know I can run something of the sort from the command line: blender foo.blend -P bar.py , but I wish to maintain the security and cleanliness of my code by not invoking command line calls. My ...

Never mind guys, I think I got it.

Turns out that my models were miniscule in size (unrealistic) and that was causing all sorts of problems. I scaled the sizes up and I don't see anymore explosions, so all good.

Thanks anyway :)

I can confirm now, that I get the same problem even with a garment created out of one piece, not "stitched" together. So I don't think that is the problem.

Cloth Explodes/Shreds During Simulation

Hi guys, I have created some 3d shirts from 3DS Max using cutouts and virtually "stitching" them together. I also have a humanoid for these garments. When I import the two into Blender, add a cloth modifier to the garment, a collision modifier to the humanoid and try to simulate, the garment always ...

Bullet Physics - Complete Version ?

Hi guys, I was just wondering whether Blender includes the complete version of the Bullet Physics Engine, or some diluted version specific to Blender. Does anyone know? The reason I ask is because I noticed that there doesn't seem to be as many options as other software packages have, when it comes ...
