I think you are correct in that you might be wrong :) However I'm not familiar with the data structure of materials by heart so I can't help you there. I think how AnimKit does could be of help: http://code.google.com/p/gamekit/source ... der.cpp#88

It starts in blender/source/creator/creator.c

There's the main function.

You can follow it from there :)

I'm not sure what code you use but I've read a lot of the data inside a .blend using FBT from GameKit. Check http://www.gamekit.org there's a lot of code there that does the same.

Well if you haven't done it before you're in for a hell of ride :)

If you are serious about this I'm very interested. This question pops up very often so there is demand for it. Just prepare yourself for lots of code reading.... I guess...

What platform are you on?

I've written a blog post about this a while ago, mostly Linux based though but it should be similar for other platforms:

I think you just compiled ghost: Ghost ("Generic Handy Operating System Toolkit") is a replacement for GLUT, see: http://www.letworyinteractive.com/blendercode/d5/d2e/GHOSTPage.html http://projects.blender.org/docman/view.php/13/4/ghost_doc.html http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Dev:Source/Architect...

Have you seen this thread? It contains an example how to get just the ghost lib...

I haven't tried it myself though

Ah ok, I get the point of the inverse matrix now. I'm trying to track what goes wrong in BGE with parented objects: http://projects.blender.org/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=33512&group_id=9&atid=306 I thought it was doing something wrong when converting objects to gameobjects in bl_ConvertBlend...

I'm not calculating anything (yet) i'm just printing out the parents local matrix. "obj" is parented to "par" so obj's parent_inv matrix should be the inverse of par's local matrix, shouldn't it? This isn't and this is exactly thebug I'm tracing in the game engine.

For math people matrices and parents

Hi all, I'm just trying to figure out a bug in Blender but I'm not sure how the matrices of objects relate to each other while in a parent - child situation Imagine I have 2 objects, 'obj' and 'par' >>> par.matrix_local.to_3x3() Matrix(((0.9739328026771545, -0.19719763100147247, -0.46079885959625244...

If it's done right Blender could implement that lib in the future
But you're right... it's not easy. But do you disagree this is a sensible path for the future?

I tend to disagree. I don't know how long Blender will be able to maintain their monolithic approach but I foresee that if they will become more modular, seperating the GUI will be very beneficial. Easier to maintain but also flexible in a sense that certain functionality works better or more robust...

I got this back from one of the developers I asked to look into it: I think exposing the "GUI-API" can't be done in a clean way yet and really would require a major blender-rewrite. An ugly hack can be done, but it will not be stable and probably requires to be updated along with each blender-releas...

Any progress anywhere?

Since I simply don't have the time to play with this myself I tried looking for a programmer for a paid job. Just a small payment to do the job but I've had two workers now who have gotten lost in this. It seems it's really hard....
or I just got bad programmers

I see this question very often too and I'm looking into this as well. So if anybody knows something more about how doing this would be greatly appreciated. Just a small example would already be very helpful. The reason why is that I'm currently looking into creating dedicated applications for use wi...
