Masking materials in cycles

I know that using LuxRender you can set up mixed materials, where a mask is used to differentiate them; useful for creating a text-shaped change in texture for instance. I don't have the time to render in Luxrender, so is there a way to do this in Cycles please? Thanks

Image mapping on glass in LuxRender

I'm new to Luxrender so bear with me! I've created a bottle using LuxRender's Glass 2 material, and it looks superb. However, I need to map a PNG I've created over it, but I just cannot get it to show up. Does anyone have any advice please? I've had a scout about and it seems that there is very litt...

CoDEmanX - I have converted the curves in the file you gave me in to a mesh so that I can build it up to include lips at the top and bottom, but it creates a really complex top face - I need this to join in to one single face, but cannot get it to do this; any ideas please?

Using a mesh to alter another mesh?!

I have a mesh that I want to cut into, ideally using another mesh that I already have. Is there a way of doing this please? Apologies if this is a rubbish explanation!

Rounded cube modelling

Hi,
I'm new to modelling so please bear with me! I need to create a model of a traditional sardine tin; a cubic shape with rounded corners. Is there an easy way to round the corners on a cube please?
Thanks

Actually please ignore that question - by adding about 60 lights to the scene and carrying out some hefty compositing I managed to get the render to show all outlines, and much thicker - problem solved! Thanks all for your help

Thank you all so much for your help! Sorry for slackness of not replying but I didn't realise there were responses... Threedee - nice tip, I'll have a look into it - thanks very much for all your effort. Ido - I've tried the edges tool but it seems my animation is too crowded / complicated - not all...

Unfolding complex box

Hi there, I have a single, complex 3d block shape that I would like to animate unfolding. Is there an easy way to do this please? It would take an age to figure out! I've tried animating unfolding boxes manually but couldn't get it to work properly - mainly as I don't know how to change the pivot /r...

Wireframe / solid colour rendering question

First of all, sorry, I am truly a beginner! I want to create cubes that have a solid colour, but also a nice thick outline - the only way I've managed it so far is by duplicating each block, with a wireframe material on top and a solid one underneath. This isn't ideal, plus it only leaves me with a ...
