Added cube to rigged series of extruded cubes won't animate

If I extrude a series of cubes of decreasing size to form a tail, for example, and then extrude a series of bones through the center of the tail, it is easy to keyframe an animated movement for the tail. If I add one more cube to the end of the tail, this cube does not animate in sync with rest of t...

custom node for color math

Is there a node which allows the user to perform a custom function based on 2 RGB input values from different render layers? For example, "if both pixels are red change to blue otherwise just add" would require a node with a formula: if R1 == 1 and R2 == 1 and (G1, G2, B1, B2) < .1 then: (Rout = 0, ...

I think it is best to define selected object rather than active object. Blender will take care of "active" object on its own. At any time, there is always supposed to be only one "active" object but can have several selected objects. If there is nothing selected, and you select "ob1" then "ob2", "ob...

def rotBone(name, degree): bpy.ops.object.mode_set(mode="POSE") bpy.ops.pose.select_all(action="DESELECT") bpy.data.armatures["Armature"].bones[name].select = True bpy.ops.transform.rotate(value=(degree,), axis = (0,1,0)) bpy.ops.pose.select_all(action="DESELECT") I am trying to programmatically cr...

Change focus from console window to node editor window

If I am in a Python console window, and also have a node editor window open, and I try the command "bpy.ops.node.xxxxnodecommandxxx" for any node editor context sensitive commands, it gives me an incorrect context error because I am in the Python window, not the node editor window. How do I change t...

Accessing every Render pass in Node Editor

I have four questions about Rendering. To access every Blender Render pass (Shadow, AO, Specular, Diffuse, etc...) in the node editor requires user to check/request them for that Render layer. Why? Doesn't the Render engine need to calculate those passes anyways for the final Render so why not make ...

Thanks "Ido", I had not considered the important points you bring up (keep data at highest quality possible at every stage, can always downgrade). Very new to world of rendering, will try "FFmpeg" as you advise. Thanks again.

renders .png's but mpeg comes out garbage?

I am trying to render a very low poly zeppelin with rotating prop blades. I am using default render settings I think. When I render the .PNG's they come out fine. When I render MPEG I see mostly good frames but with flashes of noise (whole screen filled with thin colored lines/snow) on the render di...

I don't know if this is exactly what you want, but for me I have found the most control over mapping a cube is to mark all the edges as seams, unwrap, then in the UV editor window (in the button panel for UV selection and display mode) select "island selection mode" (the last of 4 buttons on that pa...

Sorry my questions were vague. Here is what I would like to do but cannot figure out how, probably don't understand UV mapping interface well enough. 1. In UV edit window, after unwrapping a simple cube, I am unable to move every island around independently. There always seems to be a pair that stic...

how UV map related to texture, mesh-object???

I am newbie, just want to make sure I understand... In UV editor I can open any image let's say mypic.png. I can also open it from properties (materials/textures) for object. I assume UV editor version is temporary, if quit Blender object materials/textures does not know about that image. We can see...

script to automate create symmetric armature bones

Would like to automate with script creation of armature bones, but with following code cannot simply run: buildArmature() build2() #need to grab tail, move slightly so left side shows build3() #need to grab tail, move slightly so left side shows build4() #need to grab tail, move slightly so left sid...

2 more related questions: It sounds like EDIT mode maybe makes a copy of actual mesh data and all modifications are to the copy until switching back out of EDIT mode? Is there any good documentation which explains this process? If I extrude a seoncd bone "Bone2" from the head of "Bone" they are at t...

How to extrude (with x axis mirror) head of armature

If I have an armature: bpy.data.armatures["Armature"] which consists of a chain of bones: Bone->Bone.001->Bone.002 How do I get to the various bones in the armature. For example, how would I get to the middle bone (Bone.002), select the head of that bone, and extrude another bone from the head of Bo...
