I think that the problem is that he does not use a 64bit build... so they complain about the missing 32bit libs what about compiling blender yourself? :D or use a 32bit system - 64bit is not faster, its just for systems that have more that 4gig of ram as far as I know third possibility: download a ...

New to Linux!

Hello,
I am thinking about transiting to 64 bit Ubuntu and tried a couple of blender builds on it but none of them worked because of 'missing packages', what should I do?!

Re: [bf-blender] CVS Linux x86-64 & amd64 (2007/02/05)

Which version of Blender is it and what optimization does the second build have; 3DNow, SSE2/SSE3 or just x64?! I've optimized with these flags : :) CCFLAGS.extend( [ '-march=athlon64', '-O3', '-ffast-math', '-fomit-frame-pointer', '-mmmx', '-mfpmath=sse,387' ] ) CXXFLAGS.extend( [ '-march=athlon64...

Hi everybody ! A simple compilation for Linux 64 bits users : http://blary.jason.free.fr/download/bf-blender_x86-64_20070205.7z And a optimized compilation for amd64 (renders ~17% faster) : http://blary.jason.free.fr/download/bf-blender_amd64_20070205.7z (Compiled on Ubuntu Edgy Eft with ffmpeg / G...

Don't know which of your versions I am using now (the first or the second) because I'm in the heat of a walkthrough to put togeather tomorrow 9AM but in 1 hour I got 3-4 crashes when I press <TAB> to enter edit mode and even yesterday I encountered this problem with a different file.

Why does your updated build (x64, SSE3) render slower than the previous. It makes my comparative scene in 42sec while the previous didi it in 36 ?!

P.S:I also emailed you a file that seems to have a bug.

It happened with the latest release and happens with all .blend files. Try inserting a 1 sec long WAV file. 1 sec long .blend file Tested 15 times using the file above. Did not receive any crashes whatsoever. I would appreciate it very much if you could upload a .blend file that causes the problem....

[snip] It happened me that when I added a very short (1 sec I think) sound track Blender crashed (not always though). It didn't happen with normal length tracks. Does this happen with the latest builds? If you could send me a .blend file that causes the crash I could look into it and release a fix....

Noticed that you've also reduced memory consumption by some good 10-12% (now only about 35%+ than 32bit) and fixed the bug of the scenes with many light sources. If you find any bugs please let me know. As I have stated earlier in this thread, I will resolve the bugs as long as you submit the detai...

Re: Blender v2.42a & YafRay v0.0.9 for Windows x64 *[Jul

Always great, great, great! SSE3 & 64bit give a great boost. With this release my Athlon64 3000+ (@2GHz) outperforms a P4 3.0 HT (SSE2 blender *with threads enabled*) 8) . 10-16% better than 2.41 20% better than 32bit SSE2 70% better than the official release *Why don't this builds display in the ma...

Re: Windows SSE2 RC2

Great; all the benefits of 2.42 with SSE2 optimizations. Render times of a scene with simple raytracing on Athlon64 3000+: 2.42 ->1:01.23 2.42 SSE2 ->0:40.47 2.41 x64, SSE3 ->0:36.79 P.S:I have noticed that on dual core processors, 3DS max almost cuts times in half with multithreading enabled while ...

Anybody knows why the 64bit builds aren't making it to the official site for download? I see a 47% boost on my athlon64, so ti's certainly worth it.

42%? Who told you so? I'd say like at least 30% were due to different compiler (and/or settings) and at best ~10% because it was 64bit, which actually only makes a difference because the compiler has more registers available on x86-64. Or did i miss some extensive 64bit integer math in blender? Any...
