Thanks for this input, the coordinate system I was doing is spherical coordinates, r, theta, phi. There are alos cylindrical (r, theta, z) whilst polar are 2D. In this case, I was misled by some experiments I did, I did not realise at the time that if you have a bodt that is actually ON the z axis, ...

Why are there three of them? Surely two is enough? Three dimensional space. Just a guess, but the units are likely radians. A quick test should tell you. You only need two angles to specify a direction in 3d space. Think about looking at a star in the sky, you need only rotate and then look up at t...

### Progress on the cylinder otation parameter

The three rotation parameters seem to work like this.
In rotation(p,q,r)

p is an angle in the zy plane measured from z toward y,
q is an angle in the zx plane measured from z toward x.

r seems to have no effect at all.

### Some code on plotting avector with a minor error

The following code is meant to plot the vector 4i-2j-3k starting at the origin. It seems to be OK but the start of it misses the origin by a small amount. Where am I going wrong. import bpy; import math; from math import *; x=4 y=-2 z=-3 length=sqrt(z*z+y*y+x*x) cog=length/2; bpy.ops.mesh.primitive_...

### Further plotting question on vectors

In the cylinder add call bpy.ops.mesh.primitive_cylinder_add(vertices=64, radius=0.01, depth=4, end_fill_type='NGON', view_align=False, enter_editmode=False, location=(0, 0 , 4/2), rotation=(0, 0, 0)) I cannot see from the api what the definition of the rotation parameters are. Why are there three o...

### Plotting a line / vector in the form ai+bj+ck

I need a bit of guidance on how to plot a vector (in the maths sense). Ideally I want to be able to plot a line (I am using long thin "cubes") which start from some position I specify and then are oriented in the direction according to a vector specified in the form (ax,ay,az). I realise that when I...

### Where am I going wrong here in animating 3D mathematics

I have got my head around generating 3D object using the mathematical mesh tool <shift A mesh>Extra objects>Math Function> I want to animate the plotting process for a 3D function I can increment a parameter (u) to generate the plots at various points and so I have been going through the process of ...

### Re: Script errors

I think that the 3D function plot has been absorbed into another addon. In fact, the ''' maybe an attempt to stop people loading it.

### Re: Script errors

Progress, well for some reason, the downloaded script has triple string literall ie. ''' above and below the bl_info block which broke the code. Goodness knows how they got there but the error has gone.

However, the menu entry decrsibed does not appear.

Awaiting in hope

### Script errors

I wanted to use python to plot a 3d surface, I added the add_mesh_3d_function_surface.py Add on. It is cirrectly placed in my blender folder and yet I get errors when I run it. The error is long but is similar for two addons I tried (I put Mesh gears in as well). SyntaxError: EOF while scanning trip...
