You're welcome. Those laptops are very accessible in terms of upgrade/expansion. You can easily add loads of ram for cheap prices.

I am also using blender on a laptop and I don't have any problems with heat. The one thing I recommend you checking is the cooling system of the laptop you choose. 17 inch laptops usually are a good choice since they have enough space for a decent cooling system. 670 with 3GB RAM is a great choice. ...

Alembic is an incredibly useful format and it is extensively used at Major studios. It is not only the fastest and best data conversion tool but it also supports intra-frame transformation and deformation motion blur. A must implementation for Blender.
