Not sure if these have been mentioned before, but, as someone who used to use Blender to do UV, texture, and a little bit of modeling work for a game... The Blender workflow was pretty good, from what I had to work with. My two biggest problems were tools like smoothing groups, hard/soft edges, etc....

Sadly, no. :( We have (for the moment) bypassed this problem... kind of... by starting to integrate Collada as a universal in-between file format to convert with, thus putting the burden of importing on Collada-Blender. :) I'm under the impression that Blender's API doesn't support this yet. One of ...

Hmm...

Wouldn't that allow me to parent it to say... the armature, but not a bone on it's own... unless there is some way to get an object of a single bone rather than the entire armature?

Thanks for the help so far! :)

That's not quite what I'm looking for. The object in question is an empty. :)

Like... when you parent stuff to bones, Blender gives an option to parent it to the entire armature or the bone. I want to simulate the latter in Python.

Parent to bone

Hi,

I'm trying to write a script, part of which involves parenting an object to a bone. How does one do it in Python?

Nope. :( Doesn't work.

Any alternatives to getting the same effect as Apply_def.py? which I see is now renamed to object_apply_def.py.

Apply_def gives odd mesh when called from script

Hey, I'm writing an importer for a model format that a game I'm doing art for uses... the format is kind of weird, so, at some point I have to apply the deformations some bones made (and then move the bones around again) otherwise it acts really strange when editting. When I run the mesh importing c...

Importing Vertex Normals

Hi, I'm working on an importer for a game I'm helping to develop. So far, I've got most of the mesh data in. However, our format stores per-vertex normals and the normals for MFace and MVert seem to read-only. So, how would you suggest I work around this problem? I doubt our format is the only one t...
