not sure this will help, but i was looking for the GPU 'switch" for a while, and it was in the user preferences. once i found it there i was very very happy!

I switched over to cycles render.

I had an object, it is a wire that i then bevled with a circle and adjusted it.

It shows in the object window, but not in the rendered window.

(visibility is not restricted)

I am not sure where i went wrong. Thanks for any help
