How to get text in runtime???

Ok. I have a compiler, an editor program, piles of tutorials and the blender source. One question for the experts- WHERE DO I START! The blender source is so long and seperated.... Which file is the main, and how does it all link up...

If in the render tools box at the bottom of the screen you have it set to 'Dispview' (Bottom left) then the program renders in the current view, from the camra. Change this to 'Dispwin'. Er- the graphics card is four years old. It is NOT Geforce 3.

I used to think that Blender was just for creating images. Then the nice people at Blender foundation let everyone use Blender Publisher- so I started making games. Sort of. At the very least I made it interactive. Now everyone talkes about scripting and compiling and all sorts of initialed words :?...

I have XP Home, newly installed on the computer, upgraded with extra ram and a new hard drive. Blender seems to be going slower on the new system. Much slower. Any ideas?
