Open thine eyes

Well, if I'd just open my eyes, I'd see that the book is available. The other news that it is being incorporated back into Blender is quite welcome.

Solid is in the latest Blender??

Really? The latest news I've found on this site is that the Solid book is yet to be made available. Any integration of it will possibly be as a plug-in but nobody has picked up the project. Tuhopuu Blender still has the same game engine from 2.04. All that said, Using 2.25 Publisher and the Gamekit ...

Creativity drives technology

From Thorax: Those of you who have coded in PHP, for instance will have maybe run into the problem of managing the UI seperate from the code base. This may be the case with Blender. Like broken, I'm no hard core programmer. I am first and foremost an artist. My concerns are ease of use, mastery, qua...

Roadmap won't delve into code

Double post. I got an error message the first time and re-submitted. No delete option so I figured a simple explanation would do instead.

Roadmap won't delve into code

With an eye to the source code, the roadmap will make recommendations. Skinning is not a priority for this project. Improving the core usability is. Granted improved usability does at times mean customizability. For that to happen, my best experiences have come from 3D software's many paths to the s...

Make Blender Easier to use

I think many of the posts over in the Interface Poll are really about making Blender easier to use. It's the USER part of the Graphical User Interface. I have worked on GUI projects in the past. Currently I am begining to organize a project that will directly address usability improvements. The firs...

Who's with me?

kaktuswasser brings up a very good point. To form a group that will test new interface additions, I'd like to guage member interest in such a project. Who out there would like to improve the usability of Blender? Send me a message. Drop me an email. Perhaps I will soon post a poll of my own. I don'...

The path to usability

Promoting free access to 3D technology requires that Blender be accessible. Make a text drop-down menu for parenting and grouping. Create an icon based button for it in the Mesh Edit window. Keep the Hot Key for parenting. Currently there are few options in Blender. Aside from pressing the "N" key,...

A very specific request

While I was riggig a skeleton I kept parenting my empties and armatures to the same, wrong object. Eventually I discovered the reason for this problem. One must select objects in a view window and not their box representations in a schematic window. Rigging a character can be a complex task. I prefe...

Mega Props to the MakeHuman team. I have yet to download and utilize this new tool but based on the screen grabs, it is quite impressive.

What's next? Bipedal character variations?
