But zip is a native format in Windows and it doesn't require the clutter of additional software to use.

I agree with Erufailon! This is very exciting. I have a question about the displacement mapping, however. I don't know if this is a rendering bug, or a lack of understanding on my part. First, I'm going to start with a simple displacement texture on a subsurf plane:
