Why can't a minimal python (a la windows version) be bundled with the OS X bundle? Is there something fundamentally different about the way python works on OS X?

I think that py2app already does this.

Naturally this is a terrible idea if you've got movement in your scene or need to use mot...

So, I used the packages (I think they are Quinnstorm's) from the custom repositories referenced here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/CompositeManager/Xgl?highlight=%28xgl%29 I originally followed instructions from that page to run Xgl as a session overlaid on X.org. (Method A on that page) This didn't work...

I'm using Dapper Drake + Xgl + Compiz (Xgl replaces X.org as main X server) and I have only minor problems running blender. My problems include: 1. Immediate crashes when font size is changed or textured fonts are turned off 2. F12 dosen't render. Seems to be captured by the compiz window manager. T...

Does the official PPC version (in rosetta) have the same graphical bug? If not, it should run at a usable speed for most tasks.

that seems about right; OGL acceleration should still work under rosetta, no? Thus the only really intensive thing would be the rendering. Posing can be pretty toucgh too, unsure why that wouldn't be accelerated. Try comparing the speed of native blender in OS X , linux, and XP. XP now boots on all ...

Check this thread for an early intel build, made by Timothy.

Apparently it "mostly" works and is very fast

povray's license forbids any real integration.

it's horrible, but the closest we could ever get would be a native exporter to pov format.

there are already python exporters if you're interested.

It's apple's fault.

They'll fix it with 10.4.4 sometime after the new year.
