Well, try this: If you want to model i.e. a real person's head, you will have photographs, that you use as reference in the 3D view. Background images of the views, or uv-images of a plane behind your model. You can set the drawmode of your object to wire to see the backgroundimage, or to solid to s...

Request: Transparency in editmode

Hi, someone came up with a usefull trick for viewing the model and a reference-background while modelling: a 3 frames animation with material alpha 100 , 50, 0%. So U can easy switch between shaded, transparent and wireframe-look, by just changing the frame. That would be a comfortable way to see a ...

You can center the perspective view to view object/all.
Try the homekey on your keyboard (all) or select the dot numpad key while an object selected (the one key bottom middle of the numpad).

mirror modifier backwards compatibility 2.44 -> 2.43

Hi,

I opened and saved a 2.43 file in 2.44 and reopened it in 2.43 for some reason. I realized, that most mirror modifiers had to be reseted to the correct axis. I don't know wether this is a bug. Should I report it to the tracker?

Feature request: mirror modifier (object) offset

Hi, I think it would be quite useful to have an option to set an offset for the mirror modifier. These offset parameters could look very much like those of the array modifier. To derive the offset from an other object center would be great, cause you needn't adjust the object center. In a project I ...

Shader: ambient setting

I just gave it a try: It seems the AO effect is dependent on the ambient setting in the shader panel. So you could animate the ambient setting along with transparency. An other approach could be to bake the AO as an imagetexture (probably mapped to reflectivity).

HALO and ZTRANSP rendering limitations (urgent!)

When working on technical visualisations I use to fade out machine-parts by using a ztransp submaterial (recently alphacontroled via a material node). I often need particles to have smoke inside of pipes and boiler and so on. Commonly used was to switch on the "Unified Renderer"-option to solve asso...

Feature Request: Preview rendering etc.

Hi,

I've posted "Preview render improvements, Viewport rendering" on the rendering forum, however ist is very much interface stuff too. So I link the post from here:http://www.blender.org/forum/viewtopic. ... highlight=

You may have to either switch on "texface" in the material panel, which is not recommended but a quick solution. Better you load the lenstexture in a standard texture channel and switch mapping from orco to uv. Applying an image via the uveditor is mainly aimed to the realtime engine and for editing...

Hi, I couldn't find a kind of an frame offset parameter. So starting by near by zero knowledge of batch programming I got this to run in a *.bat (windows): for /L %%N IN (1, 2, 2201) DO pathtoyourblender.exe -b pathtoyourblendfile -f %%N This will render every 2nd frame from frame 1 to 2201, but ble...

Help me - How can it be done by commandline. Do you have to create a shell-script? Would be nice if you could supply a sample code. Thanks!

The default starting scene provides a lamp with raytracing shadow. Turning off that shadow or turning of raytracing for rendering significantly speeds up rendering. As far as I know you should always turn of raytracing when you do not use any raytracing feature to switch off some raytrace-precalcula...

Of course I like all of these options. Nevertheless I think it could be a handy additional feature to render the reduced framerate, also in combination with the other options. Actually I don't need a perfectly fluid preview to test my animation. The option should reduce preview rendering time for th...

Preview render improvements, Viewport rendering

Hi, when working on animations I often would like to render out a faster preview. So an 10 or 12 fps animation would do it for me. Could the option "render every *nd frame" be added? Numbers of the rendered files should be as if all frames would be rendered to add the missing files on successfull re...
