Cool! As for the forums, I'm interested in how large they are (immense, I imagine). I doubt I could offer hosting, but I could certainly imagine someone with GBs to burn and some serious Blender pride would be willing to take on this task. So, I'm still wondering if you guys might have an archive of...

oldsite.blender.org

What happened to it? Is it gone for good? If not, when will we get it back? For those who don't know, oldsite is down. I really loved having access to that info! If I missed something, sorry for the misinformed post, but if I haven't it would be nice to know what happened. Also, I have a question re...

What exactly does Blender support?

For me, type 1 and 2 DV both give an "error not a movie" message when I try to open them in Blender. I can't say how many times I've though about moving to Mac or <shudder> back to Windows for video editing. But I'd rather wait (hopefully not in vain) for Linux to get some decent apps. It is not goi...

Incorporating libdv support...

With the recent release of intrr's fantastic audio support for the Sequence Editor, my quest to find others interested in enhancing the SE is renewed! I am wondering if there is any interest in adding libdv support to Blender, so that users of MiniDV cameras can take captured footage and edit/compos...

No...

No, Blender does not support sound. In the game engine it does, but not in the rest of the program. I am looking to find others who want to further develop the Blender sequence editor (Blender's built-in video editor and compositor). This is where sound support would need to be implemented.

Question on Seq. status...

Is there anyone looking at adding sound support to the sequence editor? Is anyone actually looking at this undervalued part of Blender at ALL? I sure hope so. Blender's sequencing/compositing capabilities are already impressive- if we had sound support, Blender would be a bona-fide video editor (som...

most will disagree

But I'd love to have better sequencing and compositing abilities. A few more video editing options (cut, copy, paste, split, crop, speed up/down, freeze to name the big ones- some of which sort of already exist), sound support (with maybe some level control), and maybe a few more transitions (which ...

exactly

That is vertex keys. They are great! You can do relative VKs by clicking the "relative keys" button in the anim buttons (little squiggly line under main 3d window). That will allow more complex, IPO driven animation, perfect for reusing moves, like facial movements on a character.

I do NOT enjoy Cinelerra!

Cinelerra is an irresponsibly written piece of software. The authors falls back on ancient code from his old projects (dating back to 1996) to form the core of the project, and then leaves mile wide problems in his "1.0" release, which should be 0.5 beta in my mind, given the bugs that plague it. Wi...

Haha.

Quite funny. Almost. I admit, Linux doesn't have the best multimedia tools yet, but if I need video editing stuff now, I will definitely go to Mac. I have no respect for the Windows world. Crash free for: 1478 days, and counting. Windows free for: 1479 days, and counting. Last time I paid for softwa...

State of the sequence editor...

What is it? This is what I am most looking forward to, being a video editor deprived Linux user, as I am. However, it is great to have Blender back, and hopefully I can get to work on some interesting compositing projects once the SE gets a bit further along. Question 2: The forums from blender.nl, ...

think more about what you say

I'd like to address that "all Linux usera are jerks" comment. We aren't. We are a group of peole who are used to software and the development of said software in a very different way than Windows users are. Therefore, when you come into a project that is being played by the rules we use constantly, ...

moxy...

I posted this on elysiun, didn't seem to get any replies. I know it is a bit off-topic, but I wanted to know if anyone had a copy of the old Linux video editor moxy. I think it was created by a Blender user, but I am not sure. If anyone has a copy, I'd really like to get my hands on it, and check ou...
