Hehe. Id already sent him an email. I wasn't aware that the two things were that closely connected, otherwiseI would mabe have gone to the bug tracker first.

Anyway, thanks for walking me through this. ^_^ Or at least being paitent with my posts while I figured things out.

Plugin Texture Artifacts with Threads // can't build CVS

Hello, I have discovered that when I use any sort of plugin texture with Blender 2.42a on my Intel CoreDuo iMac (2.0 GHz -- first gen), I get strange artifacts on my objects where those textures are applied. I will attach a screenshot soon, but I wanted first to try the latest CVS build of Blender, ...

It seems the culprit is in fact one of the plugins I was using: ceramictiles from the blender plugin repository. The other plugin (simply called "tiles") works just fine.

Is it still worth downloading the latest cvs version of blender to see if it fixes this?

It occurs to me... is this the sort of thing that may have come from starting the project on a slightly older version of blender and then opening it in 2.42a later to do more of the edits? --Scott ----edit------ Okay, so I also have a node-based material in my scene, and if I turn off using the node...

I have an animation which consists of two planes, some simple models, a couple lights and about 5 particle-emitting meshes, creating a grand total of roughly 150,000 particles. I have an Intel iMac (original generation), and whenever I render with Threads enabled, it's faster, but I also get artifacts which are not present without Threads enabled. Is this a known bug or something that's just my machine?
