It's funny to see how Blender lovers talk about it as it has the best UI and the best functionalities ever. Do you mean XSI, Maya, 3DS, Modo etc are "point and click wizards" ? Blender does nothing MORE than others, so why your only arguments are "use it very long time and you will see it's perfect"...

I said that the user will read the manual only to learn advanced functions, for a software he feels comfortable to use without reading a manual. Simple example : will you prefer using Telnet or mIRC ? VI or Notepad++ ? Bittornado or µTorrent ? They are doing the same things... but the easier ones ar...

There is nothing intuitive about ctrl-v being "paste" yet everybody seem to know that's mostly the case. For ease they seem to forget they have learned it somewhere by reading it (for example as a tooltip) or at computer class. There is nothing intuitive there, but this is a standard. People don't ...

When you come to make 3D graphics, you already are not dumb and your brain has enough capabilities to make "right" decisions intuitively. You won't click on the Quit button to create a cube. So, starting on this principle that all people making 3D graphics are almost equally intuitive, it's quite ea...

Really. So let's see what wikipedia tell us about it ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intuition_%28knowledge%29 ) : Intuition is an immediate form of knowledge in which the knower is directly acquainted with the object of knowledge. [...] Intuition differs from opinion since intuition is a way of expe...

Yes but, do we really need to waste 55 min of tutorial video to learn "How to use the interface" ? I don't think so. Plus, the first sentence of the guy in the first video is "Blender interface is intuitive". Mhhh. I'm ok to admit that when Blender is learnt, it's easy to use. But please Blender com...

a) You know that Blender was proprietery and commercial software until 2002? And nobody knew this software. b) Have you ever told Autodesk that their interfaces are "shit" and that they have to change the interface that way that it fits to your needs? And in addition forcing others to change their ...

Searchers spend their lives on cognitive science, analyzing how the brain react to perception. They spend their lives on determining what's intuitive and what is not. Then you arrive, "hey guys, stop searching, I have the solution : just work hard and harder and it will get easier". UI design is a s...

Who's talking about sacrifices ??? We're talking about improvements ! And isn't it elitist to condamn occasional users only because... they are occasional ? Occasional doesn't mean "let's model a 3D bee, in my freetime... oh I'm bored of it, let's give up". As I said I'm interested to use Blender fo...

I'm calm... I'm open to dialog and what is a forum for if we can't express our points of view even if they are a little enthusiasts... I'm happy here, and even if I disagree with joeri and others, and if I might think I'm right (but open to good counter-arguments), I'm still learning from their poin...

Why open-source and free softwares are mostly all designed for "experienced users" and people who love to spend one week customizing their program ? Why this community don't see that because it's free, it will attract all kind of people (and excuse me if I'm wrong, but when we watch Blender communit...

If you use Blender long enough this will come easy. I think everybody here agree with that. And I think everybody agree to say that all Blender experts know how to use Blender very quickly. The discussion of this thread is about intuitivity of the interface. Which means : for new users. Of course a...
