Does Memory Map work in XP?

I found this in the release notes: Memory issues One of the annoying discoveries during the making of the Elephants Dream movie, was that 32 bits systems address much less than the theoretical maximum of 4 GB you would have expected. Even worse, on OSX the entire Blender process was limited to use 2...

Changing the interface too much would be rough on those who currently know how to use it.

Using sculpt mode to create a displacement map is a new one for me. I'm not aware that Blender can do it though. It's basically pointless until Blender gets micropoly displacement, isn't it? Without micropoly you'd have to set subD to render with as many faces as in the original sculpt. So we're bac...

I think you mean normal maps, not displacement maps.

Blender does need micropoly displacement. I would much rather see micropoly displacement than any more work on sculpt mode.

You can do WYSIWYG editting of displacement maps in Blender. Here's a tutorial

Possible Feature Request - Master Shader Node

Apologies if this feature already exists. I asked on BA.org and no one knew of a way to do it. Here's the problem. I have this model here: http://www.extinctionlevelevent.com/wordpress_ele/wp-content/thumb-cache/d10b3e30f0e79042b8c890987140907f.png In order to get enough texture resolution for mediu...

It seems to me that this kind of thing is better done with the displacement modifier and texture paint and/or a 2D app like Pshop or Gimp. Texture paint is at an early stage of development and clunky to use, but I don't see much awareness yet of how it can be used in combination with sculpt mode to ...

Thanks kAinStein! I had a feeling it would turn out to be a simple problem but for the life of me I couldn't find it last night.

Request for Small Change to Displacement Modifier

I would like to request a small change to the displacement modifier which would allow interactive displacement map painting. Currently, if one loads the texture being used by the displacement modifier into the UV/Image Editor, Texture Paint can be used to edit the displacement map in the 3D viewport...

Cool beans! Procedural textures work great if given a colorband with all colors set to white! I'll write a tutorial for the Blender manual on brush set-up, this is a little complicated. Have you got any ideas for fixing the image texture brush? Can texture paint use an alpha channel on an image brus...

http://www.extinctionlevelevent.com/tutorials/texture_paint_probs/texture_paint_prob_001.jpg Here's another biggie - all brushes put down color+black edges (except the simple round brush). This is the biggest problem of all, it is very hard to paint with this black getting in there. Well, that's en...

O.K, found a priority higher than undo. Color shouldn't be tied to the brush, it should be it's own seperate entity. Change brushes, color stays the same. It'd be better if the color picker would stay open, sitting in it's own panel. I really dig the triangular style color picker . That would be so ...
