You just need to save the file and reopen it. Blender will rebuild the database. Originally, this was a two keystroke operation with CTRL-S to save and CTRL-O to reopen the last saved file. "Progress" has made this a little more involved.

I'm using Blender 2.44 and swedish keyboard-layout.

When I tried to write a text including the swedish characters åäö, nothing happened. I needed to write the short string in a text-file and then import it to see the nice characters.

Could it be little easier to write a short string in Blender?
