Best Practices for Import Scripts

I don't suppose there is any kind of reference on 'best practices' for writting import scripts or for coding Blender scripts in general. Probably not, but I thought I would ask before I dive into the project :)


If anyone has any general advice I would appreciate that as well.

For us hobbyist it will be incredibly useful to have integration with Poser. At minimum it would be nice to have Poser compliant Wavefront (.OBJ) support so one could use Blender to make morph targets.
