But how? I just can't manage to select one cube of the array modifier ... I seem to select them all or only the original cube ... Jan. Hi Jan. After applying the modifier (just click on "Apply button"), go to edit mode, selecting all the cubes. Then press "P" and from the options choose "All loose ...

It was said over and over in this thread, that for a tool based software, icons make lot of sense. For an action-based one, they contradict with the workflow. Guess what ? Maya use the tool-based paradigm, Blender the action based one. We wont change the base paradigm, because it is main blender st...

I repeat: What are you talking about?! WHERE IS A "TEXT INTERFACE" IN BLENDER? Where is something different with the button window than in any other package in the world?! http://www.kainstein.de/images/Bildschirmphoto26.png And the Maya equivalent can be seen on the far right: http://images.autode...

Kainstein, I continue to repeat that with your behaviour you don't make a good service to the Blender community. I think that each reader can easily notice the difference in style (you continue to use insults, I don't) and probably here moderators are very tolerant (or maybe they by now know your st...

Kainstein, being quite new to this forum, I don't know if insults, as the ones you use, are normally tolerated by the moderators. In any case, as en educated guy, I obviously will not follow you on that ugly route. Actually I find the discussion quite amusing, and in some sense out of time. I am hap...

Apparently the secret of blender.el, the Blender mode for Emacs, has leaked out. Curses! Yes, I started to suspect about the real meaning of all those text buttons and hotkeys, they probably hide some arcane message, a bit like in the Da Vinci Code :-) I am worried now, what happens to those who di...

I didn't have any doubts about it :-) Seriously, this discussion is turning into the most classical "Command line vs GUI" arguments. So I don't think there is really something new, simply different tastes, but history should teach, so, let's see the other points. ... [display of lots of ignorance] ...

Oh! Better have eyecandy than productivity or what? Sincerely I thougth that this type of questions would belong to the past. In these days also Linux lovers are used to 3D interfaces and special effects. More seriously, I think that "eyecandy" is only another name for "pleasant". And I personally ...

Re: Where to go now?

Hi, I’m new to blender and I’ve been following a few tutorials and really enjoying it. Here’s the tutorials I have been following… Creating a Vase A Simple Winter Scene SubSurf Modelling Tutorial The thing is I had no difficulty following them, I guess as the were all written so well. But I’m findi...

What are modern concepts? I mean: Todays GUIs are still using concepts of the 80's in most parts. Right. But, as you know, concepts need adequate technology to be fully realized. And today, decades after the old CGA, also the poorest notebook can handle high resolution and millions of colors. So pe...

You know what, you converted me. I now look at my toolbar and think, you know what this isnt right for blender. Especially since it's definitely redundant. A button for this and then the possibility to have a toolbar. It's a bit like "what for?" I think we should just tighten up on the button windo...

Its all about workflow. Icon / no icon / text with icon / icon with text / text / nothing but hotkeys... thats all detail. Most modern apps and os let the user decide on size of icon and font, placement and size of text. 98% leave them where the get them because they have no idea they can change it...

I can fully agree with you to make the interface more accessible. But I can't agree with you that the workflow advantages which come from the way Blender works now should be dropped to have a good-looking, icon-plastered interface that brings less workflow, is less ergonomic and does take half of y...

Also, remember that this is OSS, which mean coders do it for fun, and it is more rewarding to add new WHHHHHHHOOOOOOOOAAAAAAH feature than doing grunt work on usability ;) Ok, this is obviously related to personal preferences and objectives, but are you sure that is more rewarding to continuosly ad...
