Try installing .net 3.0, and make sure you are up to date with XP.

I did not have to do anything to have it work with XP. Oh, is the XP version you have SP2, it could be the problem too.

You should make sure you have XP SP2.

blender worked fine on Vista premium. Where did you get your version of blender ? You should get the file here, as some other sites build blender and might have issues with vista. http://www.blender.org/download/get-blender/ You probably want to uninstall first then install again. If that still does...

At first i tried compiling using scons which looks for vc, and many hours later, got stuck on dxguid lib not found. I will try to get it compiling using scons and VC again later. Man now I remember why I stayed away from MS development tools! I decided to give mingw a try with scons, when i noticed ...

I turned off compiz and installed the NVidia drivers, using the restricted drivers manager, and this has been working great for me. The fancy 3d stuff was really cool however, I found that it was doing some weirdness on some applications, including blender. I have several amd64 and i686 running Ubun...

Compiled blender from SVN trunk on Vista using mingw and this fix works great. Tested on XP also. Found issues with already loaded audio files in blend file not playing and file selection behavior changed... however, will check bug tracker to see if someone caught that already. Gave up building usin...

What is the blender version you are running ?

Did you install it using Synaptic ?

Did you ever have it working, i.e. as in without dual head and no compiz ?

How much memory on your system ?

And you have a problem with just blender with default scene, or fairly big scene ?

Only issue now is that my converted data contains the scale ranges of -100 to 100 for each key. I could revert back t...

Wiki info on this problem. However, it would be great if we refactor the code to stop using deprecated OpenAL methods. http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/BlenderDev/UbuntuBlenderCompile ** The file user-config.py might not exist at the "basedir/blender", just create it and add the line: BF_OPENAL_LIB...

Action Editor: Display issues when MBW in the Sliders panel

In the Action Editor for shape keys:

I used the mouse button wheel by mistake on the key name panel, and it scrolled the first line then hides under the Sliders label.

If you can show it again using Ctrl-MBW.
