Blender 2.5x UI Question?

I know that Blender is known for having a non-overlapping design, but there are parts of Blender that is not exactly important in a non-overlapping UI such as the User Preferences. Will the recode of Blender have overlapping windows (such as for: Save/Load, User Preferences, Key Mapping, About Box, ...

That looks interesting! Although the graphics would need to look sleeker than what you've shown (in my opionion though), you seem to be in the right direction. And also to note of multiple layouts (game, model, scripting, animation, etc.). If you have too many of those windows, then it could cause s...

Permission for Peach

I'm trying to get an image taken from the Peach Project and post it on a wikia site and the site that I've posted it on requires permission from the Copyright owners before I can use it. Do I have to have permission to use it?

Solution?

I understand what your saying, but the save system might be hard coded into the engine (I could be wrong though since I never even look at the save system at all) and a rewrite may take a while. Someone could create a project system like what Maya does. It could have it where you set a default look-...

Although I don't know if the program itself has been altered in any way, I do know that towards the bottom of the screen tells the buyer that the software is licensed under the GNU GPL and the CD has the words 'Open Source' in it. Even for those who never heard of the license before could do a searc...

I'm not really worried at the present time. I'm currently using Windows XP, and I'll maybe be switching to Linux later on (Ubuntu, Fadora, ?). I'm not sure which one's the best. What would you suggest? On another note, I recently found a whitepaper that talks about the pros and cons of Trusted Compu...

Don't let TCPA ruin Blender

While surfing the internet, I stumbled onto this website (listed below). I'm only trying to at least make everyone in the community aware of a technology practice called Trusted Computing. To sum it up, open-source and freeware software would be condemned to die, because without a huge-money license...

A few ideas for possible volumetric creation methods (although already a few of the ideas already stated in this fourm). The idea of using a material (like the halo one) to create volumetrics might be a great idea. If you binded this material to particles, then you could use the power of particles t...

I also found out not too long ago that Vista's "My Programs" folder where a lot of the programs are installed are READ ONLY. This means that if you use the windows install on Vista, likely, you'll encounter some problems. A quick solution is to make it so that the configuration files/scripts/plug-in...

My problem with blender in windows vista home premium is that when I have installed blender and I want to start blender, it says it can't be start because MSVCR71 isn't found and it says also that 'blender.exe' doesn't work anymore. A lot of older programs (even a few years old) won't work on Vista...

Docklet Problem

You know those mini-windows inside each window. when the layout is shown horizontal, it hides most of the caption except for the first letter of the word. That would get confusing when you have them closed. I would want it to show the captions up-to-down except for the usual left-to-right. And even ...

Scratch the idea

I just discovered that the algorithm has to be licensed to be used and that wouldn't work with open source software.

sorry

FastLSM Soft Body Algorithm

This is something I accidently stumbled upon while browsing the internet. Basically, it's supposed to be a very fast, and efficent soft body system that can deform and tear multiple, high-res objects with a typical desktop machine at real-time. Now, I don't claim to know how fast the current Soft Bo...
