Re: Weight painting, but nothing happens

What version of Blender are you using?

If it's 2.5, try a more recent version. There used to be a bug with weight painting that has been fixed in svn.

Yeah, it doesn't really crash on the pointer, it just appears to be doing that :) (according to the debugger).

I'll check my local settings, libraries and whatever else for potential issues and will probably send a patch to fix the python thing as well.

Well, I've somehow solved it by disabling the GHOST_DEBUG definition in GHOST_debug.h, which disables the usage of a GHOST_EventPrinter.

I still don't know why the event printer crashes on valid pointers, but at least it works this way :)

That was certainly a useful reply, but it doesn't solve my problem.

Anyone else?

Running a CMake'd debug version of 2.5 is a trip to hell

I'm trying to run a debug build of Blender 2.5 here, but it's not easy... First off, I've build the whole thing with CMake and MSVC 2008 (Vista). There were some initial issues because the CMake files were linking to both python25.lib and python25_d.lib in debug mode, but that was easily fixed by re...

For that, you'll have to wait for 2.50 :)

(or modify the source code and recompile Blender)

Enabling turntable should make it move exactly like in Maya, I don't really understand what you want if that's not what you mean.

Can you can explain what you mean more precisely with "MODIFY THE CAMERA MANIPULATION"?

(do you perhaps mean the way you select objects?)

yeah that is ok.But i want the following to happen-- 1. Rotating camera with Alt+mouse left button 2. Panning camera with Alt+mouse middle button 3. Zooming camera with the mouse wheel(also with alt + mouse right button) 4. Selecting object with mouse left button(which i can change on the preferenc...

Sure, you can fix that :) Drag the top divider a little to the middle of the screen, go to the "View & Controls" page and click on "Turntable". Drag the divider up again, and press Ctrl+U to save it as default setting. If you've used (and like) Silo, you might be interested in enabling "Around Selec...

Re: can I use a part of blender for my program?

what I want to do is to make blender in library file, not executable. so I want to use that lib file for my application.(blender window Interface is not needed to me) my purpose is just use internal architecture of blender, and my app is a Direct3D MFC application what needs some modelling tech. fo...

It's got something to do with the MT/MD options for choosing what runtime (indeed, the standard library) to use. Make sure you're using the same option for all libraries and Blender itself. Can't say much more useful about it, but I can tell you that OpenEXR (that's what the Ilm libraries are from) ...

Yes, I know, you've edited it out of your post I see. Don't be so suspicious man :) I haven't removed anything. Just added two things to my previous post: the two parts about what I've tried to do with bloth Blender and K3D :!: Was just trying to make clear why one should take my words as real deal...

@Stukfruit: If you asked me; 'All' Blender needs is an OS providing basic lowlevel stuff for 'memory-, disk-, input-, outputmanagement', the only not so standard to a basic-OS would be the need to support openGL... I don't see a 'historical/future'-mistake decision therein. Well you know, it's not ...

I do have quite a bit of programming experience (close to 10 years by now, C, C++, etc. and everything that goes along with it) and to be honest, the author of this topic is partly right. The code in K3D is more extensible and it's a joy to use compared to the code in Blender. There's even a way to ...

Fresh checkout of SVN + CMake + MSVC2005 = wrong libs used

Hi, I usually used to use scons to build Blender from SVN and use the command line to actually build Blender. That was all fine and works great. Now when I wanted to build Blender using the MSVC2005 IDE instead of the CLI method I tried the project file generation feature of the included CMake files...
