And locks are for honest people

I seriously doubt bf-foundation has the resources to go after anyone legaly esp internationally but its up to the original poster to do the right thing - morally.

And I thought JavaDoc was cool

Downloaded Doxygen and ran it on the sources for 323 and was I easily and massively impressed. It only took 45 min on my machine though... did I do something wrong? I've found new wind in trying to understand this blender source - thanks a lot! I'm truly impressed that the program creates such beaut...

A speed increase indeed

I was able to compile the cinelerra sources (video editor) using GCC after much headaches and had even more using the Intel compiler download (which is a huge one - thank goodness to cable modems) and did a test "render" of video utilizing both versions and found the Intel compiler to be 40% faster ...

No - bluff - it was a gut punch

and I deserved it. :) I wish I could understand the code in its entirety - but alas I'm am in awe of this program like so many other "open source" programs out there - esp this is why I fell in love with Linux - I can count dozens of software where I have type the simple three magical comman...

Negative on the harshness

The harsh comments are actually just observations. I'm really quite positive on Linux and Blender - its just that both seem to be afflicted with the de-centralized direction that is the monism of "open source." Nothing is really wrong with it - it just takes much longer to come to fruition then say ...

Bingo! Was his NAMO!

Re-invent the wheel - sadly a reason why my prediction to my ney-saying father that Linux will one day (this was 5 years ago) replace Windows as the operating system of choice ( I predicted 4 years ). Linux has hit a logarithmic curve that is steepening out in the wrong direction because every chump...

Thanks a million

Ton, I've witnessed the blossoming of blender since the 1.6 series and am still a frustrated user - so I can wait like the rest of the folks to hear what the new manual is like - then go and purchase based on a sound recommendation. You more than anyone has made this all happen and I admire your con...

How about visibility?

Goto blender3d.org - then come back to blender.org - where are newbies told to download blender? blender.org - where are they told to find answers - Elysiun.com - which relatively looks nothing like blender. I believe the problem with the "new" .org era is that the blender.org site is WAY too inviti...

You know, I am a newbie but...

I've been around blender since 1.6.... And I would think the first place people come to is www.blender.org - I've been to Elysiun many a times and I think its really empty content (totaly personal opinion/observation). I would say the coder mix to users here is 1 to 10 - you could probably prove me ...

No worries...

Unix-minion (water under the bridge). ..........I'm glad that ton got to see this discussion we are having - he recognized what we all were so incoherently jabbering about and succinctly put it in a list. ...........And yes - communication is a problem and I don't have the time to join a chat...

Not to be a sour puss

But this new site has about as much content as Elysiun.... Its vaporware... a lot of that going around. Would be nice if the "oldsite" blender really was up - I don't know why they took it down....
