bake to larger texture size: 4096*4096 img then scale down to desired size with Gimp/Photoshop etc.

Blender internal renderer does not access your GPU, for that you'll need RAM and lots of CPU cores with hyper threading

So far texture baking used the internal renderer so it's CPU based.

There is a plan to use Cycles for baking so that it can utilise your GPU but that's a ways off.

while this post would get better response at blender artist I would say that Blender really benefits from Dual graphics when rendering with cycles. Now that said, laptops in general make poor rendering machines as the prolonged operations and high heat can shorten their life. They're great for most ...

Hi Blender will not display the vertex colour due to limitations in the way it draws on screen. Here's a workaround, build your mesh in blender being careful not to alter the origin. Export as a triangulated UV mapped object In meshlab import both your coloured pointcloud and new mesh and use the Fi...

It would be easier to use the Boolean modifiers to create a single mesh, then use Select non-manifold to hunt for any poor geometry. Netfabb Studio is a free tool for checking your shells Note that 3d printing charges by volume, and as most building are hollow it and depending on your desired size m...

cheers for the reply, adjusting the ambient and/or specular colour has no impact on the Texture Bake (selecting Textures only should ignore these anyway) I have a feeling that this is related to colour management, as the bug crept abut the same time as CM was introduced. Hopefully it'll get fixed in...

try File -> External Data -> Report Missing Files to see if you have any broken links.
If you still have a working copy on your laptop use File -> External Data -> pack to .blend to copy all assets to a blend file then copy this to your new machine

Hello all, to illustrate the issue here's an example using the same hi-res to low res models. On the left is texture bake from Meshlab (correct), on the right is Blender (texture only bake): http://www.posullivandesign.com/images/bake.jpg As you can see Blender's colour is far too pale. Any suggesti...

Have you tried increasing the tile count, 16 (4x4) could be your bottle neck Blender won't open the next frame until all times are done. With large tiles this can mean that 3 of your cores could be idle while waiting for the last to finish. When you run 4 separate processes this effect is reduced, h...

Blender has an Exporter
If you want to import you can use Autodesk's free FBX converter to make it into an OBJ but you lose animations

Texture Bake query

When ever I bake Textures from a Vertex Painted object the results have been 'over exposed' The resulting texture maps are much paler than the source, even when viewed shadeless. I need to then open the image map in Gimp and up the saturation. This issue surfaced around the same time Colour Manageme...

1. the world co-ordinates are off. Check the Outliner to see if your object is listed. Then View -> All You can centre the object by Shift S -> Object to Curser 2. Your object is really big (geometry not file size). In the main window type N to open the Transform panel and check it's dimensions Blen...
