object with color "invisible"

Hi, i want to place an object A of color / material "invisible" in front of other objects and in the final render i'd like to see alpha=0 at the pixels that show object A. So object A is in front of other objects that have normal color. A is marked as invisible but you can't see through but if you r...

Hello, thanks for your hint. getting an object, like you described works: obj = bpy.data.objects['flag'] print(obj) But i can't make it active: s1 = bpy.data.scenes[0] s2 = bpy.context.scene obj = bpy.data.objects['flag'] print(obj) s1.object.active = obj Neither s1 nor s2 don't have an attribute "o...

Re: iterate over some frames in a scene?

Hello, my script now looks like this: import bpy s = bpy.data.scenes[0] for fr in range(177, 221): s.frame_current = fr s.update() # bpy.ops.object.select_name('flag') fn = ('/local/tmp/flag_anim/%i.ply' % (fr)) bpy.ops.export.ply(filepath=fn) The outcommented line does not work as expected, though ...

iterate over some frames in a scene?

Hello, I'd like to iterate over a certain range of frames. I know python (2.x quite thoroughly, 3.1 not yet much). Browsing through the documentation i cam to this little script: import bpy for fr in range(221, 303): s = bpy.types.Scene s.current_frame = fr s.update() # now export the vertex data of...

render a 3D film (in 3D, two cameras)

Hello, i wonder what is the best practice to produce a real 3D animation with left- and right eye view in blender? Has anybody got experience with this? How would i best place two cameras (that i also want to animate, fly through the scene)? How would i render the two films, can i do a setting somew...

3D monitor support for modelling?

Hi, i hope this is the correct forum to post to. More and more 3D hardware becomes available, this could be quite a help when editing a 3D model, when placing objects in 3D space. For example, i own a Hyundai monitor that lets me view 3D with polarised glasses. But when editing a model in Blender i ...

Aurora Borealis

Hi,

i wonder what would be the best way to achieve an "Aurora Borealis" like effect?

On Wikipedia there are some nice photos:

Has anybody got an example of something like this?

Best regards,
Torsten.

User Interface: Support for 3D monitors ?

Hello, i have a monitor with which i can view stereo (with polarised glasses). 3D hardware could become cheaper and better available. It would be great if blender could support 3D hardware, not just for the final rendered image, but also for the user interface. If i would not need 3 views any more b...

create a mesh and apply single images to it as textures?

Hi, i read some documentations about UV mapping but they all don't seem to fit to my problem: I create a mesh from several flat polygons like squares / triangles, ... Each of these polygons comes with an image that represents its surface. I'd like to apply that image as a texture to a part of the me...

construct a mesh from 2D polygons / squares / triangles?

Hi, i have the data of all the single surfaces that - when constructed together - make up a mesh. You can imagine it's like some pieces of paper that i now want to glue together. Creating a mesh from two is not really a problem, in object more: Ctrl-J, in Edit mode: WKEY and then Merge. But how can ...

OpenCL ? Not OpenGL, i mean Open Computing language

Hi,

i read that OpenCL is a standard that makes use of some graphics cards GPU and accelerate computing a lot, especially parallel tasks like graphics rendering.

Does anybody know if support of OpenCL is already supported or will be supported?

Thanks for any hints,
Torsten.
