Re: How does Blender do flat shading?

The problem is that from what I can find via Google, flat shading via GLSL is all but impossible. What makes you think this? Just output the same colour for each fragment of a given triangle. I wish it were that simple, but it isn't. In order to calculate the color of each fragment, I must first ca...

How does Blender do flat shading?

I have a game idea in mind that will be more or less retro. Think Spectre . The problem is that from what I can find via Google, flat shading via GLSL is all but impossible. However, Blender does it. How? I have downloaded the source code, but dear God, that is a lot of code to sift through. Can som...

Re: Interface (panel) problem

Hello, I have encountered problem with Blender 2.61. When I use Blender for approx. 5 minutes it works perfectly, but after that the panels going to play hide-and-seek with me.. :) The panel appears only when I hover or click them any help .?[/img] I've had that happen as well, along with the text ...

vs. 2.61 Error with vertex/object coordinate inputs.

When I manually enter coordinates for a vertex or object, I am seeing some rather strange rounding. If I enter a decimal that begins in zero, say, .0625, it stays in the field as .0625. However, if I enter any other four digit number, like .3125, it gets rounded up. So, .1875 turns to .188, etc. Why...

I need to create a simple exporter...

I've looked through the documentation, I admit not all of it, but everything seems to be more of a general overview of Python. I don't know Python, so this will help me learn it, but I would really like a simple example of an exporter. I've looked at a few of the exporters that come with Blender. Th...

...what does this have to do with anything? It is a reminder that the source code for Blender is freely available which means you can add features to your heart's content. It has nothing to do with projects created with blender Sure, assuming the person asking is a developer. Not everyone th...

This really must be changed. It slows me down noticeably and is truly beyond annoying. If I tell Blender to do something that will have a major, negative, impact on the model, the result should be readily apparent. Undo would fix that right up. As convoluted as the shortcuts are, ctrl+shift+'N' isn'...

How do you turn off the endless notifications?

It is getting really annoying. I merge a vertex and it tells me the number removed. I recalculate normals and it asks me if I want to do so?!  This goes on and on. It is very irritating. I cannot find a option to turn this off, but I may be missing something. If there isn't an option, ...

Internally, Blender stores lists of verts and lists of edges and faces as indexes into the vert list. The lists are not sorted in any particular way except as by the procesing algorithm. I am not sure what linear means in the context of a 3d object. If you need to sort the lists, you can access the...

Exported vertex and face order?

I was expecting the vertices and faces that Blender exports to be exported in a linear fashion. What I've found is quite a bit different. At first I thought that Blender was exporting vertices and faces in a random order, which made no sense, but after looking more closely, they are ordered, but see...

Well, I don't think this will work after all. :( There are too many "unknowns" in the file format. I can safely ignore them with the importer, but I wouldn't know what to export in their place. While they are unknown to those outside of Activision, they are used in some way be the game engine. Not o...
