Joint? Do you mean edge? Or "bones". "Bones" probably. Well, I have a tiny experience with houdini (basicly by following along with various tuts and tinkering) and I only touched on procedural animation. I've also watched Mancandy DVD, there's a lot of stuff on setting up various types of constrain...

Do you mean animating with expressions? If you didn't see that in any 3d package, you can try Houdini in which you can connect literally anything to anything with algebraic expressions (like camera angle to joint rotation :) ). Also, blender has PyConstraints, you may want to check it out and exploi...

That looks really cool, thanks for the links.
Maybe, dummy question, but anyway: will it be possible to make a custom menu with a python plugin which is a first class like Node Editor, File Browser, etc.?

I've only told that coding and interface design are different, that's it. And OpenGL doesn't make it the same... It has nothing to do with it.
Why don't you just shut up?
okay :) didn't mean to upset you, sorry

What does it count if "there somewhere" are books about GUI design, if we don't have anyone to implement the ideas? The framework within Blender is always the OpenGL painting routines. OpenGL routines dictates what is doable, what is fast and what looks nice. Every idea you have, has to be implemen...

Interface design and coding require radically different skillsets with little or no intersections. If there is no intersection between interface design and coding, then the interface design will not get implemented. That's because without programming there exists no functional programm. If you want...

There are tons of people who tried Blender, hated the UI and just uninstalled it. He's one of them I guess. So that's the area where Blender has most problems. I know, Blender has a lot of users, but with all its features it could (and should) have tons more. That's where it can really, really use s...

Re: If you prefer the current GUI...

In my opinion, if people don't like something, they won't stop complaining (I should know, I suppose...). And if it's an opinion, like whether blender's current users like the GUI it's had for all these years or not, the complaints are all you're going to get (I think). Therefore, the GUI debate (t...

You're just wrong, snifi. Interface design and coding require radically different skillsets with little or no intersections. Coders are mostly horrible UI designers. So, OSS projects can't afford good interface designers? Well, Paint Guy has just offered his help for free and what did he get in resp...
