my laptop Generally speaking, laptops are designed for word processing, email and web surfing. These machines - or low-end computers of any type - tend to be a poor choice for applications that are either compute-intensive or graphics-intensive. Blender is both. I can hear the outraged cries now fr...

On the contrary, feel free to continue to use this thread! Compiz is a compositing window manager standard on Ubuntu. It works very poorly with OpenGL applications, especially on low-end video hardware. Don't use it with Blender or OpenGL games. Linux video drivers come in two flavors: vendor (or b...

- turn off compiz - use a vendor's video driver - search the forums for more information on this common problem Well, I turned off compiz I don't know what a "vendor's" video driver is. and I tried to do a search for "graphics problems" and "display problems" and got nothing that even suggested tha...

Graphics problems

I am a new Ubuntu user, and I am having problems with my graphics. I have a screen shot of what comes up when I open Blender but I don't know how to post it. I also don't know how to find my graphics card info.
Could someone please help me on fixing this.[/img]
