Use of the "UV/Image Editor" crashes Blender

I want to texture a floor, so I unwrap the geometry and then I open my floor texture in the "UV/Image Editor". But if I zoom out a few steps, so that I am able to see the whole texture, Blender crashes. (In german the windows error message is: "blender.exe hat ein Problem festgestellt und muss beend...

Blender 2.5 build error (WinXP, 32bit)

I'm building blender on Windows XP (32bit) since a few months following this wiki page: http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Dev:Doc/Building_Blender/2.5/Windows Since a few days the build unfortunately fails with: Bibliothek "C:\BlenderSVN\build\bin\blender.lib" und Objekt "C:\BlenderSVN\build\bin\ble...

How to place an object in a photograph

I wanted to place an object modeled in Blender in a photograph that I've taken. For this purpose I use compositing and blend my object with the AlphaOver node on top of my photograph. But now to the real problem: I don't know where to place the camera (respectively the object), so that the perspecti...

How to create realistically looking milk glass lamps

I try to create lamps that consist of something like a milk glass housing through which the light casts. It would be really cool if I could achieve something like in these two images: http://www.indigorenderer.com/node/633 http://files.arroway-textures.de/catalog/images/demos/full/demo_wood-001.jpg ...

What's about the package "nasm"?
I can't check it because I'm not on Fedora, but the name sounds promising:

PS: Ubuntu has *no* package containing a file called nasm.inc, maybe it has to do with something different?

Re: Digital Cinema

It would be great to render the short films according to the DCI specifications I think rendering them again would take too much time and/or money, but for example for Big Buck Bunny (and probably also the other open movies) there is a 1920x1080 version already (you could add a black 38"px" border ...

wow, I didn't knew that the technique you described actually works.
I tried it and seemed to get an n-gon. Even in wireframe mode it looked still like an n-gon. I thought this was not possible in Blender :?:
But it was such a weird building that I couldn't add a face to it.
