I found the answer I needed. To copy an object from one Scene to another in the same .blend file, select the object in 3D window and to Ctrl-L. On popup menu, choose the scene you want to copy this object into. I believe it's a linked copy (meaning, if you change the object's material, type of lamp,...

This is really "Copy Object To A Different File"

This is really "Copy Object To A Different File" (and it's good to know).

Each .blend file can have many "Scenes" (that's what blender calls them). This tip doesn't discuss how to move an object to a different scene.

update: I also had to go to the plane's Materials Properties panel, check the Transparency box, then set Alpha (in same panel) to about .50, and click "Raytrace." The number .50 seems to affect how dark the shadows (and the supposedly invisible shadow plane) will appear in the final render. It neede...

Just saw your question about invisible shadow planes. I had the same Q, and found an answer here: http://blenderunderground.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3821 I'm using version 2.66. The tip didn't work for me exactly as described. To render objects & shadows without the background, I must also cha...

Where blender stores interface themes on a Mac

On a Mac, I found where Blender saves its default themes, and also where my custom themes are located. (I needed this so I could transfer my fave theme to a newer version). Blender default themes: They are inside the blender.app (which is really a special kind of folder). To browse inside it, right-...

Re: Spacenavigator totally broken in 2.64

Bummer, the lag came back. Unusable. Dunno why, but at least now we know that repairing permissions didn't fix it.

UPDATE: fixed, I think!

I don't know what fixed it, but I used Disk Utility to repair permissions today before using Blender. Maybe that's what fixed it.

Working great!

Spacenavigator totally broken in 2.64

Are you the only one this is happening to? Maybe not. It might be happening to me.

What's definitely happening to me: Spacenav stopped working in blender 2.64.

Working well in 2.63.

SpaceNavigator stopped working in 2.64

My Space Navigator works in 2.63, but not in 2.64. How can I fix? I've tried: -reinstalling SpaceNavigator beta drivers -removing, then adding, blender as an applicaton in the spacenav pref pane. I only get one response: the right button on the Space Nav zooms to blender's world center. Nothing else...

Worked well on one Mac, but not on Macbook Pro

Very excited about this! Thanks! It works rather well on my work Mac, using a SpaceNavigator Pro, but on my MacBook Pro (with SpaceNavigator for Notebooks), only one axis works, and only intermittently. The side button still pops up the SpaceNav menu. I'll try both SpaceNavs on both Macs and see wh...

Tell 'em where the "Addons" folder on a Mac is....

I'd love to try this, but the instructions don't tell me where the "Addons" folder is. Aha, I think I found it: /Applications/blender-2.57-release-OSX_10.5_x86_64/blender.app/Contents/MacOS/2.57/scripts/addons/Mesh_Bevel Yep, that was it. Awesome. Thanks! Maybe it'd be helpful to add that to the wik...

Wow, really? C'mon, bevel needs to be there.
