combined Shape & Skeletal animation..

Does blender support Shape animation, and the ability to combine it with skeletal; e.g. can you give it several predefined extreme poses of a character mesh, skin it to a simple skeleton, then get it to pick a mix of shapes based on each skeletal animation frames' proximity to the predefined shapes;...

lightmaps, lightprobes

curious to know, what does blender natively support in terms of lightmaps plain or sh lightmaps ? mixed baked vertex lighting & lightmaps ? does it support generalized multiple UV sets or does it have a seperate channel does it have tools for atlassing etc can you get its lightmap rendering to calcu...

Lightmaps, lightprobes..

How much support does blender have for lightmapping (question from a gamedev mindset) - UV application (manual? axial?) - chart /atlassing - tweaks for texture formats .. placement of maps on DXT bountaries - lightprobes (automated or user supplied placement) - spherical harmonics? - what type of ma...

For 2.5x, right? Actually, the reason the menu pops up is because the Delete key is mapped to all Delete functions (Vertex, Edge, Face, all...). If, for example you map Vertex to one key, and Face to another one, no menu will pop up when you press them. You can combine them in a Ctrl/Shift/Alt+Dele...

delete hotkey

When you hit delete, you usually get a menu prompting to select 'vertices' 'edges' 'faces' etc. I.e. it takes 2 clicks to execute the function It would be nice to make this common operation *one* click, i.e. pressing delete does so *immiediately*. Is it possible to do this through its scripting - i....

I think it would be great for someone to come up with a better answer -- even if it is esoteric and lengthy. There are a lot of applications that could benefit from Blender's GUI ideologies. Gimp, Inkscape, and sure even games. interesting topic, I would also be interested in the reverse question -...

Blender's GUI was great. Stop complaining and use a different program. i'm not complaining. I just think it is false to claim it's UI is great. ( Its certainly not as bad as most people say though .. & (2.5 does look like a great overhaul though, credit to the people doing it) You could quantitativ...

Re: Kwit yer bitchin'...

regarding the points made elsewhere .. I very much doubt that programmers lacking UI design skills is at all the problem. Programmers are logical people and can figure things out. The issue is time taken to make changes, and figuring out what changes have the smallest chance of breaking something el...

mesh-editing - Purifying vertex/edge/poly modes

Could anyone who's worked with the source base comment on how easy or difficult it would be to add an option for this:- [1] Selecting Vertices does *not* select edges/polys between them [2] ditch shading of edges around selected verts [3] allow any arbitrary combination of adjacent edge/polygon/vert...

viewing multiple poses of a skin simultaneously?

Is it possible to set blender up to display different poses of an skin alongside the base-pose e.g. modify mesh & vertices in the base pose and see what they look like in multiply postures. particularly for weight-map painting but also for general meshing etc.. EDIT: so i found you can indeed instan...

modelling into projected texture

Is there a good way to model into projected reference texture in blender
i.e. a reference texture is mapped in space (adjustable projection), and is visible projected throughout a mesh whilst it is being created

eg as part of a photogrammetry style workflow

detailed comparison of 3d packages

Does something like this exist anywhere -
a cross package wiki listing modelling functions, constraint-types etc on a package by package basis.
i guess it might be difficult where structural differences exist.

I did that too right from the begging :D I felt way too unconfortable with right-clicking to select. If it wasn't for that option I wouldn't be blendering untill today. ;) Funny because after messing with it some more i can see the other method is more usefull when things get more complex.. just co...

symetry mode

Q1 what does this do & not do.. messing with it can be unpredictable. (is it broken in 2.5) Q2 can one apply symetry to weight-paint mode i.e. Put a symetrical mesh in an asymetrical pose with opposing bends, but then weight-paint symetrically such that you can see the effect of the same edits on bo...

aha, found the preference .. "edit-methods - transform immiediately". much more like what I was used to.

Also feel very silly for not trying to simply click drag immiediately. Found the option to swap L&R buttons which again is much more familiar.
