Texface and material colour are mutually exclusive?

Seeing as there's no coloured wireframe option (yet; are people still working on it?), I tend to use material colours in "OpenGL Solid" draw mode to tell meshes apart quickly. But when working with textures, setting the "texface" option resets the material colour to default grey and removes the opti...

mplayer dvd:// -dvd-device Blender_DVD.iso

Also note that if the .iso is under 700MB you can burn it to CD with a CD writer, and it works as a regular DVD (on my PC at least, I don't know what a hardware DVD player would think of it)

Rather than discussing the border between art and porn, I figured I'd suggest something useful - a way in which things like this are (quite successfully) dealt with in other places: Don't ban anything; give the reader information and let them make their own decisions Hence, things that are OK: A lin...

I wanted this too, but got no replies when suggesting it :(

There's obviously an XML export function available, as it exports XML and automatically renders it; as said, it would be good if there was an option to not automatically render it, just a plain export.

No manual yafray export?

So it's obviously possible to export to yafray XML, what with you being able to choose yafray as the renderer and hit the "XML" button - but why isn't it on the file -> export menu? In my case I have a windows box with a good graphics card where all my blending is done, and several linux boxen with ...

Request: Make "data browse" a tree rather than...

ED> "Rather than a list"; it'd seem that the form lets me type more letters than it can handle :/ Currently it'd seem that clicking eg the arrow on the far left of the editbuttons to select a mesh brings up a long list, or if the list is too long it comes up as a whole window, with a list inside; Th...

Changing the length of an animation path

So I want my animation to be 1000 frames long. I want the camera to follow a path object for the duration of those 1000 frames, whilst tracking an empty on another path. I went to the editbuttons with the path selected, and changed "pathlen" from 100 to 1000, but still the camera moves really quickl...

What do I do with the docs I wrote?

I've been looking through the PDF version of the manual, and I've written some stuff to fill in some of the (-) sections. Currently it's all plain ascii text, what do I need to do to get it to the manual? Also there are a couple of points like that the index should only have chapter and appendix hea...

I *love* the new buttons - having each diffent type of button actually looking like a different type of button is great. Sure it might be easier for n00bs, but so long as it's not harder for experts I'd love to see it done. Current: Red square = action gray square = action gray square = toggle blue ...

Blender does not do any raytracing of any sort. It is a scanline renderer Mmmm..... technical.... I'm a programmer primarily, what's the difference? Wikipedia makes it sound like raytracing without polygons ??? ED> If anyone's interested I googled and found an answer - http://www.3dgate.com/techniq...

Texture mapping for fast draft renders

At my current skill level I don't need / can't make full use of raytracing, and on my slow box (500MHz) it takes hours to render animations - I'd be happy if my animations were the same graphical quality as eg quake 3. So... Q3 max-detail texture mapping = 25-50FPS, ok quality Blender's raytracing =...

Clarity please, WTF should I download?

Gah, publisher, creator, keys, licences, source, whatever. I want to make 3D models and animations, using an unrestricted blender, then I want to distribute my creations freely. I somehow managed to get an old version for windows off some magazine CD, but now I've come for the latest windows and lin...
