Nice work. I have had a little thread going on in the bf-committers mailing list about where blender goes next for modeling. The tenuous conclusion is that being able to support some kind of winged edge format will allow the development of a host of more advanced modeling tools. Looking at this, it ...

I added a print statement so that I could see what it was trying to compile on that line, and bang! the thing starts working. I have no idea why the problem was there, and how my addition of a print statement fixed it.

It's building now.

Have you tried the free tools build for the tuhopuu branch? Honestly, those work pretty well, and should keep you from having to fork out major green.

That's probably the branch you'll be most interested in anyway as it seems to be more of the new feature playground.

Thanks for the help, sadly it still isn't working. I'm going to add some tracing into the script so I can see what might be causing the issue. IF I figure anything out before I go insane, I'll post back.

No, those were good. I've diffed the environments, uninstalled/reinstalled cygwin, bunch of other similarly desperate measures. The only real difference between the two machines is that the troublesome machine has Studio 6.0 & Studio .Net on it. I have no idea what is causing this. I'm going to go f...

Win32 Build Problems with tuhopuu

I have two machines, one can build the tuhopuu branch just fine using the free tools build instructions, the other can't. They seem to have the same make and python, and I have refreshed the source until I'm ready to puke. Here's the error that I get very early on (when freezing the python stuff): m...

I had the same issue that Dani was having at the start of the thread. Turns out I did not have the gnu make package in my cygwin. Not sure what make it was using, but installing that one package seems to have done the trick. The build is rolling right now. -Andy Update 8) My build completed successf...

Windows Build, Again

While investigating some low cost/free alternatives to DevStudio.Net, I made an interesting discovery. If you install the .Net Framework SDK, the C++ compiler is installed as well. Sorry if this is old news, but it would seem to indicate a way out of the currently chaotic Windows build state without...

Have you dug into this at all? It does seem strange that you would need VC6 to build this. I have the compiler for work, but I don't really want to buy or pirate it for Blender development. The MS Windows Platform SDK can be downloaded from MS free of charge. Coupled with gcc or DevC++, it would see...

Win32 Dev Environment Setup & a couple of questions

I'll probably get slapped for this, but is there a note that explains the setup of a 'normal' Win32 development environment? I has assumed it would be cygwin, but I see references to VC6. I've looked for my mythical note, but cannot find it. I browsed the Feb digest of the developer's mailing list, ...
