You also need libgcc for it to run,...

Blender for OS X 10.2 has been built with the python version from fink, which by default gets installed in /sw/lib/python2.3. As you're using MacPython, you could try the OS X 10.3 version of blender (10.3 ships with MacPython).

The outliner crash will be fixed soon, as it turned out there was a "break;" missing somewhere.

i'll take that as a positive indication. thanks. what version of linux, and distribution did you use? Both machines were running SuSE Linux 9.0 with whatever kernel version it ships with (2.4.21, i think). One was a P4 based system with an ATI FireGL8800, the other one has an Athlon XP and an old N...

if by "then" you mean when i did my quick test, that was only a few months ago.... Actually, I don't think it was chromiums fault that it didn't work, it probably was due to me using whatever pc's I could get my hand on or my own stupidity.

Some time ago I did a quick test with 2 linux boxes (blender spanning 2 screens), and it didn't work as expected. Kind of reminded me of the early days of DRI, as blender only displayed as a flat grey square.
Performance penalty probably depends on the network connection.

if you install the python2.3-nox package with apt-get, you don't have to install X11.

have you tried installing python with fink? The python package from fing gets installed to /sw, which is where blender seems to be looking for python.

Of course installing the files ztonzy and I suggested doesn't help, because they don't contain the file blender is looking for. This one does:

http://rpm.pbone.net/index.php3/stat/4/ ... 6.rpm.html
