Problem Fixed

Looking at the dump (logically this time...sigh....) I see just as SirDude spake. There is no mention of the tk or tcl libs in the linker lines. The output also shows that before the error occurs the directory is changed to the root of the build. Thus, I modified the 'LIBS' line inthe root Makefile ...

./configure script...?

Shouldn't the configure script sort out those dependencies?
I'm not sure where, exactly I should modify the Makefile or at what level since
there is a makefile in nearly every directory related to the various code subsets.

Cant' be much of an education

It always surprises me that programs become more important in industry than results. The money that film companies save using a tool like blender far outwieghs the 'industry standard' argument. Obviously most film companies have thier heads firmly planted up thier own butts anyway. That's why tiny l...

Blender 228 compile problem with Python 2.2.3 and _tkinter

Hello, I posted a note at elysun (spelling) about this. I have python 2.2.3 compiled and installed (working fine) on my machine running Linux. I did a compile of the Blender2.28 and I get the following complaint from the compiler. I am wondering what the problem is. See the following dump from gcc m...

Fixed

Thanks for your help. I managed to figure out what was wrong . The environment variable doesnt seem to get set unless I set it for the session. So I just put it in a bash script and modified my icon to point to the script instead of blender. Now I can use 'popen', and 'system' which is my goal. I am...

Python 'import os' woes solved under RH7.3 and blender 2.25

I was having trouble getting blenderpublisher to use the PYTHONPATH under redhat 7.3. What I wanted was the ability to run other programs and open pipes using python 2.2 so I can write applications that drive blender using C++. I wrote a bash script that sets the PYTHONPATH environment variable and ...

python path

I have PYTHONPATH as an enviromnment variable for python.
Is that what you mean?

It's set and pointing to my python directory.
/usr/lib/python<version>

'import os' still doesnt work.

import os

It would be a real help making tools for blender if
we could ' import os' and open pipes.

Does blender actually use real python or is the language in blender
just a built-in parser that someone fudged?

Python doesn't even (currently) work properly

Everything should be accessable in C++. I wouldn't mind comments like this if what you were talking about actually *worked properly* in the current versions. The code is currently written in C/C++ so making a libary for that would be far simpler, at present, than screwing with the half baked python ...
