Subdivision Meshes

Hi Everyone, I hope this hasn't already been discussed... In the new Python API ( 2.28 ), is there any way to: 1. Find out whether a mesh is a control mesh for a subdivision surface (ie: SubSurf button is depressed)? 2. Access the subdivided surface with an arbitrary number of subdivisions? I...

From what I understand, this is a Non-Trivial problem - deciding what is an edge, what is a highlight, etc. This is also my understanding. I think you need a variety of different techniques which depend heavily upon the scene you're rendering and the exact look you want. The Advanced RenderMan text...

Does anyone know how to achieve an effect like the lines around the inner parts of the object? Blender can do nice edges around the outside of an object, but I can't seem to get any inner lines drawn. It's almost as though Blender's line edges are just a quick hack which detects alpha channel edges....

Hi Rhs_CG, I think we missed the last part of your message. :( Pixie is quite good. It has lots of different hiders, and among them is a raytracer (yipeee!). However, it appears to be a one-man project (take a look at its SourceForge project page). This is bad because if that one guy quits (or finis...

Hi Everyone,

Just thought I'd post a message to this thread to "bring it to the top of the stack" again...

How is RIB export progressing?

Thanks, :-)

Hi Nicholas,

I don't think RIB export is part of the main code tree yet (I may be wrong, but I'll take a stab at it since nobody else has responded for a month). Last time I checked, it was still under development in the Tuhopuu tree.

Why not incorporate the empty into the camera somehow, like 3D Studio Max does with targeted cameras?

Python Development

Thanks for confirming that issue (and the full explanation! 8) ). I have since evaded the problem by accessing the non-inverted matrix and inverting it myself. Can somebody tell me where the current Python development is being discussed? Is there a website with bits-and-pieces, a mailing list, etc? ...

Camera matrix problems in 2.26

Hi Everyone, I've been trying to access the inverse camera transform matrix from within Blender 2.26. On both Linux and Windows platforms, the following script: from Blender import * scene = Scene.getCurrent() camera = scene.getCurrentCamera() imatrix = camera.getInverseMatrix() print imatrix print ...

Couple of comments...

Hi All, Couple of minor comments here. First; re Aqsis: It's a genuine REYES implementation of the RenderMan interface. Some of the initial images posted on the website weren't exactly stellar, but check out the current gallery images: http://aqsis.sourceforge.net/index.php?module=gallery Also take ...
