Tooltip major bug and suggested tooltips...

(I wrote this in December for the Blender functionality mailing list) http://www.blender.org/pipermail/bf-funboard/2003-December/001609.html In the raytracing build of blender in Windows 2000 at least [and Blender 2.32], the tooltip sometimes appears below the mouse pointer so that you can't read it...

Re: Mouse buttons in Blend Publisher

Hello, I am trying to follow a text and I have reached a point where I have to create a circle and squish it to an elipse. Unfortunately it reads that I should go out of edit mode, scale accordingly and then pressing both mouse buttons will result in the circle becoming an elipse. I do this but no ...

` (on the upper-left of the keyboard, on the tilde ~ key) Show all layers ~ tilde (shift-`) toggle between all layers being visible and the previous layer visibility setting. (Though as I've said on mailing lists, I think they should be called "groups" rather than "layers") 1,2,3....5,6,7,8,9,0,alt-...

3D Window: Mirror hotkey: M (should be un edit mode under Mesh>vertices) Ok, I see now.... I read the changelog http://www.blender.org/docs/2.30_release/2.30.html Which I think should have been in the readme. (You shouldn't have to search the internet to find out about changed hotkeys). It seems th...

Ghost: I agree that all the shortcuts/hotkeys should be shown to the user... I think that if it isn't appropriate to put something in the menus it should be put in the toolbox... or if there is already a button or icon for it, there could be a tooltip showing the hotkey. Monkeyboi: I thought about c...

Missing Menu Items (and some hotkey comments)

These are the commands and hotkeys (that I've noticed so far) that are missing from the 2.30 preview version..... In View Menu: Top NumPad 7 Bottom Ctrl Numpad 7 Front NumPad 1 Back Ctrl NumPad 1 Right NumPad 3 Left Ctrl NumPad 3 Camera NumPad 0 Use Active Obj As Camera Ctrl NumPad 0 User Note: The ...

Re: Vertically Centered Submenus

Luke, about vertically centered submenus: There can be only an advantage if you organize the items acording to frequency just like in your example. The result will seem to be illogical to the user, a complete mess. Not if the top, middle and bottom are logical groups... so of the items that are rar...

Vertically Centered Submenus

This is about something I was talking to thorwil about in an email: My first email was about my suggestion to have vertically centered submenus, rather than some that begin from the top, and some beginning from the bottom. Here are some of his replies and my replies: --------------------------------...

.....And sorry Luke, but I'm tired of this dialogue, since I don't think anybody cares for what we're writing in this thread anyway. Well I'd be happy to leave it there... I just didn't want to seem rude and not reply. I need to do some work on my Toolbox and you should try to organize and work out...

....I will propably change the submenu positioning, so that they appear just outside the space with the diagonal lines. I like that idea... and original main menu item you've selected could be highlighted (though you'd only see a small part of it) - so that you can see that the right one was select...

.....It isn't that hard to hit the right item directly, because the active area starts with some distance to the center, so the target areas are quite large. http://wrstud.urz.uni-wuppertal.de/~ka0394/en/blender_ui/8_objectmode_object_boolean.png In your starting menu the little space you've got to...

thorwil: Sorry about the high-level/low-level mixup... Anyway, here's that idea I just suggested: http://members.ozemail.com.au/~wenke/blender/radial-menus.png Basically it is easy to go back to the previous levels. I applied that idea to yours: http://members.ozemail.com.au/~wenke/blender/thorsten-...

Ok, I guess it isn't such a good idea for blender.... Pity I emailed the Blender committers mailing list about it 3 times.... (I don't want to get a reputation for having lousy ideas...) BTW, with your mock-up, it is only for 8 items on the lowest level... would different contexts have differ...

I don't think keyboard navigation inside the Toolbox is important enough to base the whole design on it. I'm still taking the mouse efficiency into account a lot... However, my design could be navigated with numpad keys and cursor keys for the submenus. There doesn't seem to be a clear way of navig...
