I wouldn't bother with Tkinter, just use the Blender.Draw and Blender.Window modules to make the GUI within Blender.

What sort of info are you trying to parse? The shlex module is handy for simple parsing. Also csv module if you like comma delimited stuff. To answer my own question, Text objects seem to be persistent within a given .blend file, while Registry operates on Blender itself, and this data is persistent across Blender sessions, regardless of which .blend file is opened.

Best way to store metadata in .blend for use by a script?

I am working on a Blender script and I need to store some extra attributes in the .blend file so that I can set some file-specific metadata which will be used by my script. I looked at Blender.Registry but this seems to store the data in a file that is in the ~/.blender dir, not with a specific .ble...
