""""""""" nd I'm sure that once Green gets back to coding renderman support again for Blender that yafray probably will only be a vague memory. """""""" the renderman code that is in the tuhopuu cvs already has this implemented, (was infact one of the main things that made me want to write renderman...

Re: How is renderman integration goin?
Hey green, since you mentioned it... how is the renderman integration goin? Not too bother you about it... just interested in how the development is progressing. Well. What I have left to do: Support for multiple materials per object. Support for more material editor buttons Getting rid of most bug...

Re: Ambient oclussion -> give blender a BIG step foward
We all know that blender scanline render is pretty fast, but far away from getting quality of the "big guys"... yes... we have exporters to good free renderers (yafray, pov, and all the rib guys) that has all the stuff needed to make nowadays quality images.... Radiosity, GI, hdri, light tracing, c...

You must be usin...

Perhaps I'm missing something really obvious, but how would that make it *more* difficult for the shader writer? (Being someone that has written and used shaders myself, I can tell you that it would make things a hell of a lot easier for me.) Because they havto compile and keep track of different s...

It can still look ok (so I'm not saying that it shouldn't be an option), but it's not physically accurate Physical Smysical. If it looks good, it is good, end of story. A simple gaussian blur combined with boosted highlights and some cheap bokeh solution works wonders in most compositions, and is e...

I've written the Blinn BRDF before--in tuhopuu for one--and I can assure you that it is not one line of text. I was talking about using functions from a include file. something like color = blinn(color, normalandshadingpointsetc..); could do just fine. Even so. Alot of the less complex shading mode...

Umm... non-programmer artists use shaders all the time. It's just that they don't program them. In fact, the concept of "shading" is actually a 2d concept: you "shade" pixels of an image. That is why they are called shaders in the first place, because they decide the final color. I never said that ...

Green--> Your work on the RIB-export is just excellent. It is the only really useful way to make an external rendering interface. Just keep going! Oh, don't get me wrong. I do appreciate Green's work on the RIB-exporter, and I think that it will be very, very useful. I wasn't complaining about that...

And what if you want to combine procedural textures? Or BRDF's? Well, guess what, you have to make an entirely new shader for it! Grrr... Well. You would want to put the procedural stuff in a function that returns a color. Then you would insert "+ functionname()" in the actuall shading function. Th...

Re: Slashdot! Gotcha again, hehehe.... New (personal) record
Sorry 'bout that, seemed a worthy piece of news. After all, i've been missing that myself for quite some time. I think that's the 4th Blenderpost I managed to bring to the Slashdot frontpage. Anyone with more? We could make a contest on this... :-) I have 2 http://slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=02/09/...
