per an earlier post, yes, ikari. I am excited to see the eventual results of the event refactor. Will this modularize all major parts of blender (events, UI, mesh edit, render, scripting, render, plugin api, etc)? That seems like a logical way to structure it, at least in the source tree. After read...

@ BrendaEM: great post. Objective and informative. I'm surprised there aren't more responses. Perhaps, to some, this is a tired subject and change is unnecessary, because, "hey, you don't code so quit whining". I am happy a flame war hasn't started over this topic. Though, not expecting a tidal wave...

Blender needs usability testing before starting a new UI.

I have to chime in here also, hopefully adding something positive to the conversation not simply bashing blender and its potential. First, to paraphrase William Faulkner, "sometimes you must kill your darlings..." That being said, I am very interested in whitelight's UI proposal. Moving into profess...

One more thing, d/l'ed the PowerPC version (2.45-pv2.3 from USA link) and it works fine (in rosetta). That pretty much limits the issue to the Mac intel version.

Tried again (w/ 2.44) from the command line, blender isn't identified as an executable. Still, I've never had this problem with blender on Mac before. As said, the d/l links aren't working so I can't get a copy of 2.45-py2.3 to try. Also, the "blenderplayer" app isn't recognized as an application by...

Lots of broken links could be a network problem. Your http://download.blender.org link currently returns "Please visit www.blender.org for finding links... browsing is disabled temporally." Take that as a hint. Thanks, but actually no links to download.blender.org work, even FROM the blender.org si...

download.blender.org is DOWN, can't get blender for Mac

Hello, I was trying to download blender 2.45(?) for my Macbook Pro (intel) and the download links are all broken. I tried visting http://download.blender.org/ but I get a "page not found" error. ALSO I managed to get it from the Germany link, but when I launch blender it immediately quits. I have a ...

Is there a version for OSX PowerPC 10.4? I have tried both OSX versions and the i386 10.4 doesn't run at all and the 10.3 has extreme lag in drawing the GUI, which is caused by resizing the window. After launching blender, the GUI responds normally, but as soon as I resize the window, the redraw gri...

Here's an example from Cinema 4D that sort of illustrates what I'm looking for:

Image

Is this possible in blender's material nodes? If not, It's something many people may find useful.

broken, Either I'm not doing what you described or it doesn't work. In the node network below, look at the "Tex" node, at the black and white mask. I want the Output node to be teal where the Tex node is black and red where it's white. Does that make sense? Basically, the final Output node should be...

Falloff material, stencil, map alpha, etc.. How?

Hi, Since the material nodes were introduced, I've been trying to build a falloff/stencil/masking material with no luck. I can make a material that has part of it masked off using a ramp as a texture connected to the 'alpha' input on the Output node but that's not quite what I'm after. I want to be ...

FYI, a really good freeware ZIP equivalent to WinZip on Windows is Ultimate Zip -> http://www.ultimatezip.com

Opens all formats WinZip opens and integrates into the Windows shell. I use it all the time.

Will blender get a real falloff material?

I have been trying to build a falloff material with the new material nodes but haven't been successful. I've read about the old way of using a greyscale bitmap but I want something that's editable within the material tree. I've tried using a black to white ramp shader and it kind of works, but it's ...

Yes, if you could specifiy the number of before/after frames that would help illustrate the motion path. I would imagine that if you modified a key, the ghosted frames would update in the 3Dview. I'm not sure of what jump/step means, but I was just thinking that you could set (in user prefs) an on/o...

Hello,

I'll check out that script poutsa posted, but regarding rcas's post, ghosting is good for armatures but not quite along the lines of what I'm thinking of.

The trajectory would be the motion path of the (any) object's center (pivot).
