Have you tried BRL-CAD?

I doubt Blender will ever be useable as a CAD program,, and at least not in the near future.

Maybe it's a good idea to place a link to Elysiun on the main page again.

I don't believe there will be a 2.4 book. At least not anytime soon.

I'ld rather have the choice. Maybe a setting in preferences that you can set what you want.

There was a problem with ATI in the past I believe. I'm not sure if it was totally fixed already.

Last time I checked, the project was mothballed. But if you want to use an open source CAD program you can try out BRL CAD, although atm only on Linux and Irix.

Numpad 1, 3 and 7 for front, side and top view respectivly. Use Ctrl + 1, 3 or 7 for the other side.
However, user questions are better asked in the forum at Elysiun (users forums in the menu on the left.)

Would it be possible to fake this by letting moving the mouse down and up correspond with moving the mouse "out of and into" the monitor?

But with four views you have very small views. Now that screens are quite big, this has become less of a problem, but how did they handle that in the beginning with those small screens?
I usually just switch between views with the numpad buttons.

For rendering animations this might be a good alternative to renting render time: http://www.elysiun.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=26437

Really? Wouldn't that make really annoying blendering?
When I'm at uni I always take a computer where I can change the screen resolution to 1280x1024 when I want to blend.
