That statement is from the Old Blender API - 2.49. Actually, since the post is dated 14-Jan-06, probably an even older version. You either need a newer version of the script or an older version of Blender.

This is why error messages are important.

Do you have an stdbool.h somewhere? If not, time to install stuff, likely the stdc++ libs & headers.

If you do have it, then your include paths are wrong.

Judging by the link, the article is from 2011. A lot has changed since then. You might be better with something from the Development docs:

Math is math. You can do it in Python. But for heavy lifting, you might want to look into Numpy. Or even Scipy if you are feeling exotic.

STL is a file format for Stereo Lithoography - the grandfather of 3D printing. Basically a CAD format. Can't imagine why you would want shadows.
