A suggestion for the text editor

I realize the spe has been in development, and that there is active interest in making it so that it can be more interactive when used with Blender. Currently, once spe is activated (and apparently, only with Python 2.2), direct interactivity with Blender is lost. One thing that's good about the IDE...

Creased Subsurfs

I downloaded and compiled the latest CVS so I could have a look, and I have a question or two. If I take a cube, make it subsurf, increase the resolution to 3 (so I have what looks like a sphere), and then crease one of the edges, the only crease I get is a portion of the midpoint of the creased edg...

Upcoming release

First, I'd like to say that I think that B-Con status is a great idea. It gives everyone a very quick and easy way to tell what's happening with the ongoing development. Second, I'm very enthused about the weighted edges for subsurfs. I can't even BEGIN to think of all the little issues this will re...

Scaling/moving/etc along view-based axes

Here's the problem - I have a character model in rest position. Because of the extreme displacement required for models that have their arms/hands out to the sides, I have decided to use an approach I saw in the World of Warcraft behind-the-scenes clip - with the arms angled downward and hands sligh...

Some suggestions for a more functional blender

Maybe I just don't "get" rigging yet, but it seems like I've run into some issues that have this a real pain. I've built my model, and and now attempting to rig it based on how I expect to use it. I've selected a few poses (working now on the first part of the first pose), and based on what doesn't ...

Nice work

Lest anyone wonder why this is important, think about the current bevel tool, and how it bevels every face of a selected object. This is nice in some cases, but there are often times when you only need to bevel one or two edges- this new inset tool allows just that. Very nice, imho. p_vertex_ (russT).

Feature request: Inset

This is very similar to the bevel tool except that it operates on an entire edge loop. It's almost a combination of face loop cut, and bevel, where the user would select a face loop, and once selected, would adjust the distance of the inset from the selected edge loop - the needed functionality here...

Time to play :)

I can see some use for this in creating all kinds of interesting surfaces.

Yes, but I am talking about a purly select tool, so that you can go back and easily select a ring well after doing a cut. And I see this as a great feature, as many times, there are small tweaks that are necessary, and are made by scaling/moving/rotating individual edge loops. If you have a sets of...

p_vertex_: that's because the only thing you see on the outside of the glass is the reflection. Turn it down! :) This is what I suspected at first, but I've played with the settings from every way to Sunday, and can't get this to work. Here's another image, where I rearranged it a bit, including th...

Interesting results

I created a wine glass, with three color cubes behind it. For some reason, the yellow cube does not appear visible through the glass. The magenta cube is visible, however.

Ton -

Thank you so very much! To say that these are great additions would be an understatement.

Question: Now that reflections, refraction, and transparent shadows have been implemented, does this mean I can render a glass accurately without the NOR trick?

OK, a fair comment, insofar as blender is concerned. Consistency is important. Within the bigger picture, however, most applications use escape, a command-key combo (on the mac), or control-C. Unless the use of the right-mouse button to cancel an action is common in other 3D apps, blender, as a whol...

Re: Layers continued

The reason would be simplicity. Easy visualisation and nothing to setup for the user. But of course it's very limited. The challenge here is to provide good functionality for power users while not creating any more of a burden on new users. What if I have 11 layers that are currently being used for...

What's with the knife tool??

Since my bug report was deleted, I never did get to understand why someone thought it was more intuitive or efficient to have to "confirm" a cut with the knife tool by hitting the enter key. I'd like to request that the original functionality be returned, where the left-mouse button was used to draw...
