Sounds good. I don't plan on letting this take a lot of my time either. I'm really more on the user side of Blender, but then again - once a programmer, always a programmer (even if I'm on the lame end of the scale=) Haha you start to sound more and more like me.... Actually I'm digging in to Blend...

Hi Jamesk (and all...), I will take another look at the code in the near future, probably during the weekend. Honestly I'm not planning to spend lot of time with this, especially if it would be a major pain to get things started. I would really like more to get into the code itself with Dev-C++, not...

Hi I'm kinda in a same boat. I downloaded a checkout CVS and played it for a while with my Dev-C++ / Mingw. I did not dig in very deep, but here are my findings and questions: - Dev-C++ uses GCC with Mingw library extension. Mingw can be replaced with Cygwin. - Dev-C++ creates it's own makefiles. I ...

If you get any results please let me know. I'm very interested. Actually I would love to get code to my Dev-C++/Mingw environment, but I guess you need to create new makefiles to make that work (Dev-C++ does not read the current makefiles, I assume?!)....

Would it make any sense to use Mingw/GCC instead of Cygwin/GCC? If not, why?

Exactly, what's up?

I suggest the core development team to hire a volunteer to take care of communications. Sharing information to different parties and especially to the foundation members and potential developers who hang around.

What do you think?

Just wanted to add myself to a list of those individuals who think there should be cygwin support. Actually I think cygwin should be preferred over MSVC because of the reasons Gslyons stated.

Re: Compiling Blender with Dev-C++

Has anyone tried compiling Blender with Dev-C++? If you have tried or you have any tips on how to achive this, please let me know. (A project file would be great as well!! :wink: ) I'm using Dev-C++ too. I have had no time to play with it lately, but I will soon. So I'm interested in this topic too...
