Btw, these questions belong to the Blender user forum (blenderartists.org). This forum is for discussion related to Blender development.

[edit] Hmm... judging by the thread date, I don't think Zach_Stubbs is going to see this. Oh well...

Saving User Preferences

One thing that confused and annoyed me (a lot, and still does) when I was new to Blender was saving User Preferences. You can't save them without also saving the default scene. This means that if you don't want to set your current scene the default, you have to open the default scene, change the pre...

I don't know whether they got no time to do it or if there is any other reason why such a feature shouldn't be implemented since it makes Blender a bit more professional. Isn't it part of the blender button layout project? Broken (Matt Ebb) is the main person behind the project but he's busy with p...

Re: bf-blender Orange / Win32 (06/01/25)

Edit: Hrms. Was a little fast posting. Fullscreen it seems does not work. Maybe it's something Ton did to the code :( Or maybe I didn't do the procedure right. Well, at least tweakmode works like it should. Actually fullscreen works. The button is just invisible so you have to click the top right c...

Daniel, you just have to press the lock button in the UV window to make it update the texture in real time.

I've been thinking the same. Moving a texture channel by doing copy+paste+remove is totally unintuive and counterproductive. Especially if you have 5 other channels in the way and you have to move them manually one by one: click on channel, click on copy, click where you want to put the channel, cli...

Re: modeling issues

You probably missed the following points:
-Modifier stack
-Better mesh subdivision
-Sketch based modeling
-Better boolean modeling
-Better Curves and Nurbs
-Half-edge Mesh editing

The mirror modifier is great for symmetrical modelling (at least in cvs, don't know about this build), now I'll just wait for the 'optimized' viewmode to work with it. The build effect looks actually useful this time, which is nice. Kudos to all developers, you've surpassed all my expectations once ...

I liked the previous blender.org news style more. Every news item had a picture with it and they were more clearly separated, making it very easy to spot new items. Now I have to actually read them to see if something's new. The frontpage seems too crowded for me now with the news and announcements ...

The CCGSubSurf is great! Faster and uses less memory. Tested it with a subdivided cube and could do subdivision levels that weren't possible earlier. Result: The old subdivision choked my computer (Blender memory usage went up to 700MB) and I got bored after 7 minutes, CCGSubsurf did the same subdiv...

This is how the color selector works currently: Click the color button. Click hue. Click saturation & value. Move the cursor outside the color selector. I think it would be nice to be able to do the same thing with only one mouse click: Press the color button (not releasing the mouse). Move cursor t...
