Re: Best online 3D site for news...? Blender or non-Blender.

dunno, maybe 3dlinks.com , 3dbuzz.com . Maybe cgtalk.com forums(the only I really visit this days, usually as there are hanging some super aces, pros that have really neat tricks...In several occassions saved me from a huge bug on certain comercial applications... ) ... I use polycount forums (well,...

Re: md3 import script/plugin with animation and textures

ooops

*import*

sorry, read badly

there's an import one in the zip, but i think no anim supported..

good luck

sort of if your package allows exporting as md5 (free available exporters for max and gmax) , export so, and use the md5 importer in blender.

Re: md3 import script/plugin with animation and textures

I'm looking for an md3 import script/plugin with animations and textures and have been extremely unsuccessful... so does anyone out there know where to get one, or if one even exists at all? I'll be thankful for ANY help on this subject. It's all I could find in my old HD. If I remember well, the -...

one way or the other, and while I think the more in Blender, the merrier (tho lately more worried on formats in blender/char animation, keyframes handling workflow) , still, if you can access a Windows, or surely Wine (recent version even allows PS CS2!) , you then can use the very useful tiny tool ...

Re: My 2 cents

yep...that is an example of issues when trying to exhange animated characters between packages... I think there's some work on the FBX importer, but the problem is that are needed mroe hands to help with everything: I mean, seems indeed was started an FBX importer. In this case, I mean, if that one ...

Re: My 2 cents

The very last piece of the puzzle has been a way to get vertex weight/group data from maya to blender, you maybe could skip the BVH step, which anyway you have problems with, and instead use *.md5. i you have the game, Doom III, installed, I think then you have a way to export models from there as ...

the fact is that at Ogre comunity they saw it more clear. One moderator is happy as it'd benefit in the features common to all game making. The thing devs should be asking is why would people use blender to generate content as opposed to some other app? What will blender have to offer that other app...

Instead of only a few working on a game you could literally have a legion working on a project at the same time er...prob I see is quality control...it depends on the project, but usually in a game project you like to see top quality in every mesh and texture or anim...Dunno, maybe is just me. In M...

Indeed, I suspect Max has certain old code structures of which it's more slave, and still, keeps growing -despite the critics- with every need of the big studios,(the amount of powerful thing you can do with it today is crazy, as with any tool, if provided good hands) and probably will merge into a ...

Re: No offense at all

Extensible or not, that would be a too simplistic argument. Extensible is if people extend it, lol. Sorry, bad joke. No, seriously. Been some years, but I have never been a diehard fan of blender, like with haven't with almost any tool...And I have used in depth many modelers out there. I gave a ver...

I had previously only skimmed through all the 4 pages thread, now to realize several were mentioned. Still, is good as is like "votes" for A or B feature... I specially agree with these ones : (with most others too, just try to remark over a selection (plus some new ones I also said at above posts))...

I agree in all with Mara.BTW, worked in that industry too, but was not allowed ever to use blender (but yep wings, as was an specialty only) - backgound images assined independently to 6 ortho views I guess this is to allow tracing different profiles of an object at a time (ie, front, left...) - tex...

There's a lot of power in Blender already. I'd wish more ways to export all this to game formats, and import. At the end of teh day, way many game engines do actually have loaders to load standard formats: you dont allways count on the great help of a dedicated programmer for making custom plugins w...

I have worked in 4 game(of 4 different "fields" or type of games(real time, prerendered, pixel art..)) companies (and other group by freelancing) , and yep, is very common to use, purchase even, a game engine totally appart from the usual max , maya or xsi. In my experience tho, many times the same ...
